MetalliC patched emu has a random crasches but new hCUPa 3.04 emu dont have it.
And Syndrom has right HLDM:Source has it own engine. Then files for it should not be extracted from base source engine or source engine gcfs

Steamemu 304 doesn't seem to support language gcf. I tried this config that was supported with previous emus. Without success.
[hl2.exe_episodic]
GCF00=half-life 2 episode one french.gcf
GCF01=base source engine 2.gcf
GCF02=source materials.gcf
GCF03=source models.gcf
GCF04=source sounds.gcf
GCF05=episode 1 shared.gcf
GCF06=half-life 2 episode one.gcf
Of course my steam is set in french. I tried to change the place and the number of the language gcf in steamemu.ini. Each time the game launches with texts in french but voices in english. It should be the same with other games, not tested though.
hCUPa, if you could fix that it would be great. Thanks.

working config for HLDM:SOURCE -
[HL2.EXE_hl1mp]
GCF01=half-life deathmatch source.gcf
GCF02=half-life source.gcf
GCF03=source models.gcf
GCF04=source materials.gcf
GCF05=source sounds.gcf
where is no need to include source engine coz it is packed in half-life deathmatch source.gcf
working HL2:EP1 config
[HL2.EXE_EPISODIC]
GCF01=episode 1 shared.gcf
GCF02=half-life 2 episode one.gcf
GCF03=base source engine 2.gcf
GCF04=source models.gcf
GCF05=source materials.gcf
GCF06=source sounds.gcf

I know that it should be like this but IT DOESN'T WORK Strike_82Quote: Steamemu 304 doesn't seem to support language gcf. I tried this config that was supported with previous emus. Without success.
just checked - steamemu 3.04 works perfect with my regional content
Check this key in your registry, and add it if it's absent
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Valve\Steam]
"Language"="french"

It works for me with the following ini file:
GCF01=base source engine 2.gcf
GCF02=half-life 2_french.gcf
GCF03=source models.gcf
GCF04=source materials.gcf
GCF05=source sounds.gcf
GCF06=half-life 2 episode one french.gcf
GCF07=episode 1 shared.gcf
GCF08=half-life 2 episode one.gcf
GCF02 seems to be mandatory (at least with 2.63 fixed)...
hCUPa, million thx for your work...

Just one basic question: How to know which files need to be unpacked on the game folder ?
For example with emu 2.63, only GameInfo.txt was required but with 3.04 some other resources are mandatory...
Thx in advance to give some clues...

I had same trouble with hl1dm, but i found root of problem.
Engine Error "NUM_FOR_EDICT: bad pointer" appear because your bin folder from base source engine 2.gcf if you unpack same folder from half-life deathmatch source.gcf problem gone at least for me work.
PS
But after this replacement you take trouble with EpisodeOne and other HL2 games, solution this problem conclusion in use different directories for different games like this do Steam and example SteamBuster-Revolution.
Example:
|-half-life 2 episode one |---bin |---episodic |---hl2 |---platform |---hl2.exe | |-half-life deathmatch source |---bin |---hl1mp |---hl2 |---platform |---hl2.exe

Thank you man, I didn't think half-life 2_french.gcf was mandatory for HL2:Ep1.

yeah, this way it works, but this is not good when one game is working and others are not
I think it concerns emulator, it must support different game engines and unpack it into /bin folder automatically
hCUPa, do you hear me?

I dont think that maintaining unpacked files and preparing games for launch is a responsibility of emulator. I'll think about implementing that in future version, but for now you should rely on 3rd party launcher (like steambuster) or steam itself to unpack needed files.
