Welcome back hCUPa.
Just a question :
the original steamemu 3.02b works with the official steam gui in is time. Is it possible to do this again with the new one ?
(if I remember well, there was a very little file steamlauncher.exe)
It was better, because that way steam could directly extract needed files (and no need for third party apps).
Regards,
XrM

hCUPa i have little work gor you. I have problem with "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library". This error appear sometimes in source games. This error always appear in Half-Life 2 (you propably have HL2) and only with "base source engine 2.gcf" extraceted files not "source engine.gcf". I have SAVE GAME file when error appear (when Combine (Barney) say "NOW" error should appear)
I have 2 hex adresses that might be usefull: 000194a0, 000194d0
Save Game file: DOWNLOAD

I have SAVE GAME file when error appear (when Combine (Barney) say "NOW" error should appear) Valve Steam client itself does not use 'base source engine 2' files for hl2. It must be for a reason Lets stick close to Valve and use same engine as they do. Besides that, why would one want to use different engine for hl2? xrm wrote: the original steamemu 3.02b works with the official steam gui in is time. Yep, I'm planning to do same for new steam client and working in that direction atm. Its just that other things need to be done first (i.e. organizing application data in a better way).

I experience the same error with HL2 Episode One which uses base source engine 2.gcf. It appears more specially when I load a savegame (sometimes I can't load savegames at all : runtime library error each time and with steam I can load them). It can appear randomly when I play too. All these errors crash the game.

Many thanks for all your excellent work hCUPa.
I'm currently replaying HL2, HL2:LC and Sin Episodes from the GCFs with the 3.04 emulator and it seems very stable. Your emu is the only steam.dll I've found that works with GCFs, which certainly smooths gameplay.
Re your reply to xrm: to clarify, do you expect future emu versions to require a Steam client (or launcher) or will it be optional?

Same here - I get the runtime error if I try to load a savegame from my cracked steam client account, but if I start a new game it seems ok (so far?)

Same goes here, attach saves that cause crash. I never ran into that problem myself, so the only hope in tracking this bug (?) is someone's savegame or instructions how to reproduce this error.

2hCUPa
I continue testing steamemu3.04 and HL2:E1 (SASIO know ) and i determine for myself (maybe not only for me) shallow problem:
hl2.exe -steam -game episodic -console PreferLocal=0
no error
hl2.exe -steamlocal -game episodic -console PreferLocal=0
no error
hl2.exe -steam -game episodic -console PreferLocal=1
ERROR (Sometime simply throw out to desktop without error, sometime "C++ Runtime Error")
hl2.exe -steamlocal -game episodic -console PreferLocal=1
ERROR (Sometime simply throw out to desktop without error, sometime "C++ Runtime Error")
PS
What fundamentally differences between command -steamlocal and -steam, i try to search but found nothing
Here my problem save file:

Hmm i tested with all valve games and really works (with correctly .ini files)
Btw, is this emu included on Steam-Buster revolution by SASIO?

hl2.exe -steamlocal -game episodic -console PreferLocal=1 ERROR (Sometime simply throw out to desktop without error, sometime "C++ Runtime Error")
First of all doing -console PreferLocal=X does absolutely nothing. As PreferLocal is emulator option and should go into corresponding .ini file. Second, both -steam and -steamlocal should work the same with emulator (difference in steam engine starting does not matter with steamemu).
And last, thank you for supplied save file that helped with tracking possible problem, which was (hopefully ) fixed in 3.05b that is attached to this post. Password for archive is se305b.
To everyone else: if you experience random crashes in the game, feel free to upgrade to 3.05b and post your feedback here. Ini files stay the same, so they are not included in the archive.

Thanks hCUPa, please find attached the savegame that crashes when loaded (right at the end of the loading progress bar) Like I said though, starting a new game seems to work fine so far...
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank you for SteamEmu and also for your continued support with it. I'm sure i'm not alone in being very gratefull for all that you have done
