just an extra question, the left4dead.exe supplied by the other thread, when i use CFToolbox to update my game next time, will that be overwritten such that i need to reapply the file?

What crack, install UndeadPatch to crack Steam and you will be fine.



Aren't we waiting for the engine.dll crack for protocol 38?? After updated to v1.0.0.9, whenever I play singleplayer, it always give this meesage "Host_Error: Steam ownership check failed." I use SMD to crack steam but I don't think using undeadpatch will make any difference since the game is able to launch and I can join a cracked dedicated server. Just that I can't create a game myself, be it singleplayer or local lan mode.

Actually I am a little confuse with which file that need to crack. May be engine.dll, or client.dll or server.dll. I kind of mix up what these 3 files actually does.

Have you tried VUP 2.1?
That supports Left 4 Dead doesn't it?

Hello,

I have updated everything using the ncf/gcf posted in the OP and cf toolbox + left 4 dead client binary.ncf from the rar posted by HB (two posts above). Still I get the "Steam servers are too busy ..." message and cf toolbox tells me there was a validation error with the left 4 dead client binary.ncf

I am using the SMD cracked steam. What to do?

EDIT: In steam it says that the game is 99% complete and then it gets stuck on "Download starting..."

I also tried deleting the .blob files, same result....

When I try to start it by clicking on the left4dead.exe, I get to see the valve logo and the intro then I get the message "Engine Error - Could not load the library client"

I keep getting the old "Server is too busy" B/S, i got those "new" GCF's from HB and im trying the CF toolbox and stuff like that on them, when i first got the game from this topic, steam was able to update it but now it cant :(:(:( Any ideas why?

edit: i tried going into the properties of left4dead and verifing the content, it verified then it said it was updating, all looks good so far :D

Ok, I got the game to work by using the update patch posted here, however, I cannot play online.. I get the "Disconnected - Connection to session has been lost" error.

EDIT: Ok, fixed this by adding -console to launch and joining the Setti group and playing on their servers.LINK

Alright lets simplify this we CAN play l4d,only problem is we get some outdated files but our ncf's aren't outdated
wanna fix that? spread the word to all Undead and non-steam users

Same problem. I downloaded all. In CF Toolbox, all are at 100% and all are "correct".
I have the clientbinary 5.

But i have : "servers too busy".

WTF ?

Everytime I try to join a server I get disconnected with the usual error. Meaning I need a crack. Now I've seen a couple of engine.dll and client.dll's pop up around the site. So are there any cracks, or do I actually need one?

so what does this mean?

I need some clarification guys please help.
So does this mean for example when i reinstall my LEGIT steam i install it in c:/programfiles/realsteam/steam? like that?
once i did that it installed but how do i install another steam? when i try to run the steam installer its says repair? remove?
