I did this... 1. Uinstalled all l4d versions, steam and so on... 2. Downloaded this steam version of L4D http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4520767 ... ADNFO-TEST3. Downloaded steam http://storefront.steampowered.com/down ... nstall.msi4. Installed and updated steam then when I was done I closed down steam (completly) 5. Downloaded this crack http://alicanc.890m.com/cs.rin.ru/SMD.v ... RBPFC1.rar6. Placed the 3 files in my Steam folder 7. When your L4D download is ready i did this: 7.1 The 4 .ncf files goes to Steam\steamapps folder 7.2 The Left 4 Dead folder goes to Steam\steamapps\common folder Then I did this:Quote: Updating L4D for December 5th (2nd) patch 1. Download CF Toolbox from here http://w18.easy-share.com/1702730678.html2. Once installed, open it, and select the Preferences tab. Beside Folders click ... for both CGF / NCF and OutPut and navigate both to your \steamapps folder. 3. Select the GCF/NCF Files tab, and you should see a list of your .NCF files (If it doesn't appear, try closing and reopening toolbox). 4. Right click each of the follow files: left 4 dead base.ncf; left 4 dead binaries.ncf; left4dead win32 dedicated server.ncf and select Download > Resume. The Dedicated server.ncf will only update to 99.96%, don't worry this is normal and fine. 5. Download the package from one of the links below that will update your left 4 dead client binary.ncf and your engine.dll. 6. Extract the files to your \steamapps folder. After this, you should be able to play. When the update was complete I did this:Download the engine.dll crack and other files and put the ncf file in your Steam\steamapps folder and the engine.dll in your Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\bin folder. To start L4D:1. Start steam via SMD.bat 2. Login and enter my games 3. Right click on Left 4 Dead and choose properties 4. Click on launch options 5. Copy and paste - -console -novid +sv_allow_lobby_connect_only 0 +sv_lan 0
6. Now launch L4D 7. In console write map (mapname) ClientDo step 1-6 and in console write connect (ip) Make sure-Firewall is off or right configured This method still works for me, played this night... Haven't tested this method with vista, only 3 xp machines...

Ok how can I run a dedicated server which will allow people with the legit copy of L4D, as well as cracked versions, to join? I want my server to be on the master lists so people can join without typing in my ip in the console. I've been using Vityan's cracked engine.dll which worked fine until the Dec. 6th patch. Whenever I run my dedicated server, it says my server is out of date, so it's not being listed on the master server lists.
Also, I don't want the clients to have to change any files in order to join.

First of all server and clients need the right version (orginal, first patch or 2nd patch) Then I think you really need to crack engine.dll (if not server give error or client will give error) My advice, host the server on hamachi, host webbserver on hamachi wit instructions, cracks and so on for your server...

Can anyone help me out I've followed the instructions to the letter and CFtool still sees my l4d base.ncf as outdated I've already applied the 0-3 patch to this file using CF and it updates fine
Jw if anyone has the current base.ncf file for upload? Thanks
~UPDATE~ So after a reboot CFtoolbox now says l4dbase.ncf is at -146.90 and that version is 7

Request an update from the SCS forum, or preferably download the whole file.

Did Valve fix the lan exploit? I used a .bat file which automatically launched a lan server. The only thing you had to type into console is a map name.
A few weeks ago this method worked just fine, but now i receive the session error again.
Is there any fix for this right now?

No problem man. Hopefully you get it set up soon! CR@CK-iT wrote: Did Valve fix the lan exploit? I used a .bat file which automatically launched a lan server. The only thing you had to type into console is a map name.

Is there any fix for this right now? Did you update/validate/download your ncf files with CFToolbox?
