I followed some instructions from several websites which try to find workarounds for the CTD's and mostly all CTD's are gone now. I installed the newest Beta drivers for my nVidia card, disabled multicore rendering and turned off/reduced AA and AF.

Now when I get a CTD, I see a window popping up shortly. Seems to be a CTD related to the crack instead of being a game related CTD.

And I can confirm this as well. I had a 'clean' install, "Left 4 dead 2 Common" downloaded with CFToolbox, Nano's "Left 4 dead 2 Client" from the sticky. After the changes above (without the last two, tried only single player) everything seems to work, whole main menu seems working. I played for about 10min without a crash so far. Didn't encounter the chainsaw, explosive ammo or anything, so don't know about that, but melee seems to work (baseball bat galore). WinXP x32.


maybe you could put together these files in a nice little package for those of us less fortunate?

Thanks for the help :wink: , I have tried many different things:

1. original common and client ncfs (100% full)
2. reghack (add key "{5F63E8CB-8F57-490A-97FE-62BC2F2A5EA4}" to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\CLSID\] (since I have win7 x86). And then Add key "InprocServer32" in the above key/folder.
3. set date to 29th November.
4. Tried with both cracked steam running in bkground and also turned off.
5. started game with cmd line switches as above and without them.
6. razor's crack.

--However, I keep getting the same problem EVERY TIME: Start l4d2, create singleplayer game, play for ~1-2 mins and it just "shuts off" - no error messages etc., just "poof".

If anyone can help with this, please do. In the meantime I will continue trying different combinations (as if i'm stuck in the crystal maze :wink: ).

Once I get this working, I will reply with my solution - and an "autoinstaller" crack.

Either I'm wrong or there's still an error in the Client.dll

EDIT: Had a CTD again...it more seems to be a problem with the Client.dll AND the revemu I have. I always get a CTD with an error window showing up for short, which highly looks like the one, which you can get after the intro crash.

Guys, I think I have found a (temporary) solution!!!!! I have been playing for around 20 mins now... no crash!!!

1. Start with clean ncfs.
2. Apply the crack from http://www.multiupload.com/N33Q8SQK0Q.
3. Change the date to 29th (dunno whether this needs to be done - I had it applied from other cracks I was trying - best to be safe)
4. Apply the registry crack (again, dunno whether this needs to be done, I had it applied from other cracks before).
5. start the game with the cmd line switch "-lv" (low violence - no gibs etc.).

Hope it works for someone at least.

Will provide more info if needed.

Okay, It still seems to crash, but very rarely. Also, cant kill a witch, otherwise it will crash (RUN!). :laughing: .

Overall, it is a bit more playable. I have seen a chainsaw, explosive ammo, and the like.

TO ALL

I have done some test for Left 4 Dead 2, and found out that all files download from torrent are working, razor and pirategay.

Please follow this:
1) When loading right after the movie it goes back to desktop!
SOLUTION: please change you computer name! right click "My Computer" -> ''Properties" -> goto "Computer Name" Tab then click on "change...", for me i use "HY" or "SPEED" works fine! I know it sounds stupid, but after many hours of test, im 100% sure this cause the problem!
And also try to fix you network ip address to like 192.168.0.1

2) When playing and crashes after few minutes, either goes back to desktop or freezes and make lots of dump files inside the folder!
SOLUTION: please change the date of your system file to november 19, 2009. Im using +8:00 time zome. After this all when OK even after many hours of playing!

NOTE: Theres a client.dll that is out there that you need to change for you to have LAN game, but i notice that some pc crashes right after when you killed a witch! sounds stupid again but it happens to me everytime i killed a witch!

Hope this help everybody that are having problem once and for all, and hope we can make a solution to fix this "Computer Name" & "Date & Time" problem!

For me this crack crashes right when it starts loading the menu. With Razor's client.dll and the regfix I can play the game but get CTDs during gameplay.

OK, Here's my final report...

1. Start with clean common and client ncfs.
2. extract files from http://www.multiupload.com/N33Q8SQK0Q to the game folder.
3. Change date to 29/11/2009 (no reg patch required).
4. It works flawlessly (chainsaw, explosive ammo, etc.) - BUT dont kill a witch!!! :laughing:

No, seriously, don't kill a witch or it will crash. RUN!

Yes with single player mode, but in LAN mode, system will crash.

Please can you explain your crack process and whether you run cracked steam in the bkg etc.?

My l4d2 works fine now, except the witch crap and also i can only play the 1st level. While loading the next level, i get a CTD (with no error).

Dack23 posted his crack at the bottom of this page of the sticky thread, and it worked for me as well. The razor-routine I mentioned earlier had the drawback of forcing You to play Rochelle (for whatever reason) and the nick Razor1911, and I couldn't find a way around this (but maybe I'm just blind and/or dense). Dack's crack doesn't have this issue, and again, played several minutes (but only single player) and no crashes. Works with both loading via the revLoader or the main exec, with SteamUP! running.
