This will "emulate" the steam api so you can play offline, and ONLY offline, in steam-based games such as L4D, L4D2 (and some other smaller games that use steam_api.dll)

Notes:
it has been said, CEG may still cause problems. but if your game does infact have CEG, then it will need its own crack.

I can confirm that this isn't working for MW2.

It just goes to Find game>private match and the other options, shows cs.rin.ru in the right top corner, and then it crashes.

Yes, for MW2 you need cracked exes.

i have made for SP and MP and i can upload them if you like.

Tried it with Serious Sam HD:
"The procedure entry point SteamAPI_RestartApp could not be located in the dynamic link library steam_api.dll"

I might need to try that game out then, ill see what i can do about it.

EDIT: Serious Sam fails because its a different steam_api version, i will need to apply a patch to fix this,
and it could take some time because it seems like i may have to reconstruct the way this module works, we will see.

I'm tried to use an extracted version of L4D1 and 2 directly from the Dvd's using the decryption keys.

Are i able to run it offline with these API?
The game extracted currently crashes after intro giving me a "unable to load client.dll from library"

Thanks s0beit, but this time it stays on connecting to IWNET... and doesn't move.I think you are getting closer to cracking MW2

actually that is because my steam_api.dll emulates everything, there is no internet protocol, you do not need steam to run it and you could not possibly get online with it.
(unless u made a spoof DLL which only changed some things, but hardly any emulation..)

is this steam_api.dll can work with future version of mp.exe ?

Yes, the extracted version doesn't have the client.dll inside /left 4 dead 2/bin.
Also there's a strange directory called left 4 dead 2_lv.

I used to put the original client.dll into the sis-extracted version but still crashes after the intro movie with "error loading client.dll from library"

ihave l4d2 steam version( steam downloaded) it dont work after replacing file in left 4 dead 2\bin , same CTD

I can remove it without any kind of trouble.

I'm getting a CTD just after trying to launch a singple player game in L4D2 and it even creates a *.mdmp file.

But it's nice to see another emulator around here.
