ok, so today when i got on steam and started up gmod. the game crashed. i tried again. the game crashed. and each time it gave me a "Hl2.exe has stopped working" thing. and no matter WHAT Valve-made game i play (tf2,portal, etc) it STILL does this. so..... wth is the fucking problem?! edit: nevermind this is NOT fixed. i checked my files with ctftoolbox and all the files are at 100% -- Edit -- seriously guys. i need help x.x -- Edit -- im amazed how useless this forum is sometimes... |

fletchr First of all, we are not paid here. So chill out. It's not the end of the world if you can't play. Do something else, go outside, read a book. All of the Source Engine games are breaking. Hmm. Did you validate the files? That may be the issue. Just because a file is 100% in CF Toolbox does NOT mean it's valid. |

This issue has occured on my PC today as well. It seems to only be affecting SCS Games, as Portal that I got for free during the giveaway is still working correctly. If it's a new error, a solution may not have been found, and so I think we'll have to wait a while here for a fix, or for Valve to submit one in update form. If the crash reports help at all, here is mine from launching plain old Half-Life 2, with no mods.

Clean up the registry,delete Steam\steamapps\<account> folder. Try to launch them again,validate them with Steam. MacAddict wrote: I have faith in this forum and its members. Well,I still have faith that there are still kids with proper education.But it's fainting away day by day.

So, my registry was all cleaned and my user folder was deleted, and yet Half-Life 2 still crashes. It took a few minutes for Steam to sync (is that supposed to happen) and after it seemed to be done, I clicked 'Play' under Half-Life 2 and then Steam went into 'Not Responding'. I went away from the computer and when I came back the message was back up.

What crack is everyone here using? MiSteam does not have this issue. |

No crash with iSteam 2.0 on Source engine games. So it must be SteamUp or SmartSteam. |
