works finally really smooth for me, just played thru 3 levels. this patch, disabled vsync (enabled originally 'cos of tearing, but only apparent in cutscenes, so screw it, mouselag reduced now), and set priority to high.
dunno which one fixed it, vsync off or setting priority high. happy now anyway. the cpu usage is quite low anyway, but gpu usage is over 90% most of the time.

copy pasted from my earlier post: System: Phenom II X4 B50 BE (Unlocked X2 550 BE) stock atm (3.1 GHz) [waiting for new xigmatek heatsink], 4 GB DDR3-1333, HD 4850 1 GB @ 750/1093.75, HDs: 1 TB WD Black, 640 GB WD Green (irrelevant, i know).

gpu staying well below 63 degrees C.. (that's the highest i saw)
this is a gigabyte card tho with it's own design and came with a nice zalman cooler so i'm pretty sure temps on a reference design 4850 would be a tad higher.

for some reason applying this patch raised my temps up to the high 70's when i was running in the low 60's .

yes, with the new patch. don't recall a temp change myself, but i didn't monitor it closely earlier.
they're anyway still working on the gpu usage, some cards are having insane usage %.

yeah, the temps stay quite cool and this is with my quite heavy overclock (stock 4850 is only 625/1000), probably thx to the zalman cooler and better overall design as stated earlier.

How the hell do i start the game with this update?
it always tells me, that steam must be running?!
i already copied the call of duty black ops folder into steam/steamapps/common and used the ncf's... i also tried with a cracked steam.
nothing...steam shows me that game but when i want to start it, this messages comes up.
and skidrows calls this a crack?!

You have to use the SKIDROW release ...

also, it isnt that hard.
its just a simple update, but i just won't work for me.

i also tried to reinstall everything :/

Hmm, anyone fix the "Wont run without steam" error yet?

hmmm i just got this problem after installing update 3 steam must be running to play game....
i reinstalled...cleaninstall and update still no luck any help?
