As far as I know, hosts file will only work if the game tries to contact the offending host via its name. So if it uses IPs, that won't work.

Otherwise, do as illpillow said, run a program like TCPView to find the server's IP, and then block it in your firewall.

You must use it from the command line if you want it to be effective. In other words, you should create a shortcut that runs the following command.

As it's been said, using the hosts file may or may not work. If NoNet doesn't do the trick, then try that. You have nothing to lose.
