-----------
HOW-TO
-----------

all what you need to do is:

just copy the files and folders in this Container and paste them to your Half-Life 2 Main Folder..

e.g: x:\program files\half-life 2\

in this container I created empty folders for knowing how to do it right for anyone may make a mistake... Hope not..

also you'll need to edit your Shortcut for running the game in the proper condition..

This is the right way for the shortcut in case you want the game to run..

"x:\program files\Half-Life 2\hl2.exe" -game hl1 -steam
\Or/
-steam -game hl1

*thanks "mayhemdred"

So enjoy the game you already played ages ago.. hehe

FIXES SECTION:
==========

Fix # 1: Client.Dll |--> [Get from either VENGEANCE or EMPORiO
Fix # 2:Launcher.Dll |--> Get from either VENGEANCE or EMPORiO

==============================

*Some Releases Reported Some errors starting the game..!*

"game Crash, right after the Valve intro movie"

giving this Error Message:

"OnGameRulesCreationStringChanged: missing gamerules
class "CHalfLife1" on the client."

the "CHalfLife1" is what you see for the client.dll in the Half-Life 2\hl1\bin folder "the Original Client.dll that comes with HL1\BIN".
so by applying the above
client.dll you'll see that it's now working but client.dll will read:

"CHalfLife2"

========================================
A Little SlideShow to let you see how it works both sides:
========================================

*******************************************************************
Slideshow # 2 | Client.dll (GCF Ripped) Error Messages Related to Half-Life 2 | whatever\hl2\bin
*******************************************************************

Case A.

Image

You have the Original Client.dll which came from your:
half-life 2 content.gcf

it will be located after extraction on:

whatever\root\hl2\bin

Now..!

if you have this file: client.dll (Org-GCF) in these folders:

whatever \Half-Life 2\hl1\bin
and
whatever \Half-Life 2\hl2\bin

then when you Run Half-Life 2 you'll get those 2 Error Messages:

Crash:
---------

Image

and then after a few moments of leaving on your scream you'll be faced with this next Error Message:

Memory:
-----------

Image

Those are the Error Messages you'll have if you run your Game (Half-Life 2) with the Original GCF Client.dll file...!

SOLUTION: | Apply the Above Client.dll to your \hl2\bin

*S*:._.:*T*:._.:*A*:._.:*R*:._.:*S*

*******************************************************************
Slideshow # 2 | Client.dll (GCF Ripped) Error Messages Related to Half-Life 1 | whatever\hl1\bin
*******************************************************************

Now..!

if you have this file: client.dll (Org-GCF) in these folders:

whatever \Half-Life 2\hl1\bin
and
whatever \Half-Life 2\hl2\bin

then when you Run Half-Life 1: Source you'll get thes Error Messages:

Crash:
---------

Image

and then after a few moments of leaving on your scream you'll be faced with this next Error Message:

Memory:
-----------

Image

So..!

running Half-Life 2 with GCF'ed client.dll will give you:

:!:
Connection to Steam Servers Losts
Could not acquire necessary game files.

running Half-Life 1: Source with GCF'ed client.dll will give you:

:!:
OnGameRulesCreationStringChanged: missing gamerules class "CHalfLife1" on the client.

 SOLUTION: | Apply the Above Client.dll to your \hl1\bin

And Again: Plz

 SOLUTION: | Apply the Above Client.dll to your \hl2\bin

*S*:._.:*T*:._.:*A*:._.:*R*:._.:*S*

anyway the game will run after applying the Client.dll listed under the FIXES SECTION.

so for starting the Game you need to Grab the Above:

Client.dll

and to place it in the main directory of Your:

x:\half-life 2\hl1\bin

some others reported a simple start error regarding the Launcher.dll which also you can get it from the FIXES SECTION above :)

The Launcher.dll is located in:

"x:\Half-Life 2\bin\"

just the Main Root of Half-life 2

*Remember.. we have 2 bin folders..*

but make sure of one thing...

the bin folders in: half-life 2\hl1\ & hl2\ only got 2 files:

client.dll
server.dll

*S*:._.:*T*:._.:*A*:._.:*R*:._.:*S*

So enjoy the game you already played ages ago.. hehe

Peace All

P.S
Say hello when you first play in the Black Mesa Train.. ;)

So, do we have to redownload the gcf after downloading the one in the other topic? I sucessfully downloaded and extracted, but when in the training room, I get the following errors (in the console):

ERROR: Weapon (weapon_rpg) using undefined primary ammo type (RPG_Rocket)
ERROR: Weapon (weapon_357) using undefined primary ammo type (357Round)
Attempted to create unknown entity type env_sound!
Can't init env_sound

The last error repeats a lot... I'm not sure what the problem is. When it says "use the button with the use key" or whatever, nothing happens. Kind of annoyed.

well I haven't faced any problem until now (Since I'm still playing a bit with it)

but so far so good, no problemo at all... Game is so Smooth and Nicely going ahead..

Maybe you got some missing stuff.. have you checked your GCFScape 1.2.4 for any No Physical Data to write to disk?

and also have you tried some enough commands in HL2 Console lately?

I noticed that applying commands in the console for Half-Life 2 may affect another function of a specific Command..

=====================

the Old thread Regarding the GCF file, is meant to be for people looking to get the Original thing.. either for comparing, so they know what they are getting trusted propers.. and also to know what has been added to certain Release than others..

you cann it Study case Purpose.. hehe

this new Thread is talking about the game after getting it WORKING...

Peace All

Post subject:

Oh yeah.. what a dumb... I forgot to mention this one..

sry folks..

the stats.txt is a self generated file.. the game generates this file once it starts and then shutdown..

so if you have the game playable and tested already.. go check your:

x:\Half-Life 2\hl1\

and look for the File stats.txt you will find it.. :)

Nothing Serious.. ;) and by the way, thanks for posting that so you reminded me to Explain a little more...

Peace All
