Deviation, try putting the root folder in another folder, such as program files. So instead of "c:\halflife" it'd be "c:\program files\halflife". When I moved my folder back to C: i got that problem again, so I just moved inside of program files and it fixed it. |

SUCESS! Aha! Found out what was wrong, and like you said buddy it was something really simple (well, more correctly, something really stupid on my behalf). I'd like to give a big thanks to MALEADt for inspiring me to have one last attempt at this through his post on the program thingo he's making... Thanks aheap mate! Found out I was extracting Platform.gcf to the base folder... Which should be correct, if the gcf program was to extract it with the folder name Platform. However, I was just extracting the files inside the Platform folder, without putting the Platform folder physically in the halflife folder... Geez, such a relief now. Sorry for being such a nuisance to ya mayhem, but you did a great job keeping up with me, so a big thank you for that too 
So basically my solution: Create a "Platform" folder in the half-life root directory, and put Platform.gcf in there. Cheers again guys, I know, i'm stupid  Works now and thats all that matters I guess... Thanks heaps. Great bunch of fellas here Catch ya later, ciao.

Hey ppl this works great for all games apart from cs cz!! i extract latest gcf (account got banned yesterday!!!!! NOOO) so its uptoday and decrypted n all. but when i lauch using -game czero i get half life !!!!!! wats up with thgat!!! it happend to me before thats why i bought teh game!! any help greatly appreciated!! |

alot of people have been telling you to rename the folder to CZ or somthing, and yes that does work, but u cant play online. With this way u can play online and it soo simple! All you have to do is put your czero folder into your main folder then add -steam -game czero. to the end of your hl.exe shorcut. then run the game from the shortcut. you must add that fullstop to the end of czero!! THATS IT! it works online to! when u open the game u wont be able to find any servers but use a server browsing program like The All seeing eye, then all u have to do is find a server. copy the ip, then open CZ and go to console and type connect "ip goes here" thats it! it took me a long time to figure out but it works. enjoy |

When I try to Run DoD on the "Shortcut to hl" it gives me an error like this... Error:SteamStartup() failed: SteamStartup(0xf,0x13fb60) failed with error 108: The local Steam Service is not running Do you know what's wrong? Thanks for the help. |
