Post subject:  DX8 water reflection fix installer
This is the auto installer for HL2 & CSS DX8 water reflection fix for those who missed it earlier. You can install it from anywhere in your PC, it will detect the correct steam folder. This is only meant for the GCF users, playing with hCUPa's steamemu. For those non GCF users, extract the files manually and replace your existing folders. I have also included an autoexec.cfg that will force your card to run on DX8.1 mode to activate the texture changes. Make sure Preflocal=1 is in your steamemu.ini. (the value 0 is default)

You do not need to change the in game options to REFLECT WORLD or REFLECT ALL to see the effects.

Only use this fix IF YOU HAVE A DX8 CLASS VIDEO CARD OR GEFORCE 5 SERIES CARD

For DX9 capable cards, you do not need this fix.

Enjoy the new water reflection without fps loss. Credits goes to JoshuaC for the fix.

yeah it will, extract it if you dont have gcfs

its meant for gcfs but you can use it for both so your good

it did fixe the reflection but the game started to crash from time to time so I deleted it. too bad could have been a great patch. :?

how do i know if my card is a direct x 9 card or not?

i have direct x 9 installed ok with no problems, and i have a geforce fx 5200...

do i need this?

i have the same card, your card is only set for a hardware of dx8..

i think u can see this in the css or hl2 options menu under video tab i think

it will work on any version you'll just have to manualy install it to:
SteamApps\USRENAME\counter-strike source\cstrike\materials\liquids

after you instaled it tell me plz if you'll have crash's.
