ok, imagine your hard drive is a chocolate bar (i know its a little corny, but it helps to explain it) fragmented file : File 1 | File 2 | File 3 | File 1 | File 2 | File 3 contiguous or non-fragmented file: File 1 | File 1 | File 2 | File 2 | File 3 | File 3 imagine the things sepeated by the |s are blocks. in order to get file 1, the drive has to go to the first spot, then all the way to the 4th spot to get the second part, and this takes time. defragging moves them all so they're next to each other, so it takes less time to retreive the file because it doesnt have to travel as far. that's defragging in a nutshell, if i'm wrong anywhere, don't hesitate to point it out |

Dred, I have a FX 5200 too. What kind of drivers do use for them and the version ? I´m using the lastest from nvidia (66.93) and when I´m playing CSS using ppatcher I see a lot of squares surrounding the lamps in all maps,( I can see a square in front of me and behind this wall is the lamp), but it´s funny, because it doesn´t happen with Emporio´s version. Best Regards, Mutley. |

Digz: nice picture but I wasnt paying any attention to diskeeper I was paying attention to how much shit was running in your system tray (where your clock is) and your quick launch (lol). Im surprised you can run anything worth a shit with all of that running. if your lagging, stuttering, etc: TURN SOME SHIT OFF FOR OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE be well |
