ok this is what you need. the modified files thanks to hellboss, cue, emporio
viesen is doing a version but trying to pass it off as his own work.
steam.dll thanks to cue
steam.exe thanks to hellboss,emporio
steamengine.exe thanks to hellboss,emporio
extra file included is steamed.exe. its a simple program(16k) file i done to run steam and hide the steamengine.exe dos window
extract them to your original steam folder and run steamed.exe. it will run steamengine.exe and steam.exe. do ctrl-alt-del you see steamengine is running.
the benefits of this you dont need steam down seperate folder and neither veisen steam cracked folder just your original steam folder.
0.99mb packed 4mb unpacked
Instructions
1. backup your existing steam.dll and steam.exe first. just in case.
2. download the file
3. close down steam if running
4. extract the 4 files into your steam folder usually c:\Program Files\Valve\Steam
5. run steamed.exe
you now have steam running its exactly the same as steamdown as it uses the files from steamdown so respects
EDIT: Delete the steam.vbs if you had old download and use steamed.exe instead this replaces it
I updated the archives.

I honestly dont know why the need for all of these things you guys are trying to make. I have been using ppatcher since it was first brought to these forums and it does everything you need. You close steam and then open ppatcher.exe. From there it logs you into steam and you can already download/update/play all of the games from steam. No need for any software or steam skins or anything..

but i still dont get how the steamengine and the exe works, i just don't want to use anything that i don't get how it works. could anyone post the source code for it ?
and why VB script code?? why not batch files? it's much simpler and won't be blocked by Norton.

we don't, that's when we turn to the cracked steam, and if that really happens, you can still log onto normal steam and use emu to play online. (that's why i use emus)

another benefit of this is it runs steam faster than steamdown does
but it seems i got it working too fast and the dos window steamengine still pops up so edit steam.vbs and change or download script.rar its edited for you
EDIT You dont have to do this anymore because its been fixed and replaced by steamed.exe file.
Wscript.Sleep 1000
and change it to
Wscript.Sleep 2000
and it wont popup no more
do ctrl-alt-del shutdown steamengine.exe in task manager its easy to forget its running as you cant see it.
