I could not help but notice that many people were worrying about steam being updated.

Hellboss thought of a nice method to work around steam updating itself. However it uses lots of 3rd party applications (for example steamengine.exe and steam.exe from steam-down are actually beta applications from Vavle). This makes the solution a bit ugly (no offense intended.. ).

Since no-one seems to have figured out what the patches in ppatcher.ppc are actually for, I decided its best to make an improved launcher on Hellboss's method so no updates are needed.

SteamLauncher functionality:

• Play / Download all steam games like ppatcher V5.
• Prevents Steam from updating itself.
• No extra steamengine.exe, steam.exe, vb scripts or big archives.

Install: Just put SteamLauncher.exe in your Steam client directory (same directory as steam.exe)

Note: ALWAYS start steam through steamlauncher.exe, if started through steam.exe it will act like the normal steam client and it will update itself!

so with this u can still play css and hl2dm online even when steam updates? what if i want the update coz its got lyk bug fixes and stuff?

u can still update the games, just the steam.dll and steam.exe wont be updated, thus allowing ppatcher to always work

mhmm... i don´t thrust this solution. how can you be sure that all games are going to work in future by preventing steam updating itself?

what difference does it make....if it ever stops working, a new one will be released...

what difference does it make if it does stop working? like I said, another one will be made...so it can be used until then...

u cant start games from the all seeing eye
it tries to launch another steam
and i dont have this problem with ppatcher (when its already opened)

after tring a lot of this tools
now when i tried to play i get

steam ticket expired
when i tipy the password i get the same

delete clientregistry.blob dont work
log out and log on dont work too

anyone with the same problem?
