Post subject:  i think i have the old steam.exe-.dll files
listen i have an old setup for steam a very old one befor the update of steam if you install it while you are not conected to the net the dll and exe files of steam wont update ok
so try it it may work to get the old files give me your e mail and ill send the setup its only 500kb and i have dsl broadband conection

I really like that this launcher keep steam from updating while allowing you to download the games with ppatcher. However, it would be even more great if you also launch the games without being online, i.e. a working offline mode.

karlmueler figured it out as used in his SteamCrack 3.0 http://cs.rin.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10782. He did this by adding a line to ppatcher.ppc:

The last line Address=0x23ac0c:0x84:0x85 apperently fixes the offline problem!

Could SteamLauncher please be updated to include this line, so we can start the games from steam in offline mode, hCUPa?

What game are you refuring to? I was getting the stupid login prompt when trying to play CZ:DS from the steam menu but if you delete your clientregistry.blob file you should be ok.
But that last line mod is good to know to.

Any game. Tried with half life, half life 2 and richochet. I deleted my ClientRegistry.blob, but then I have to go online to login before I can start Steam in offline mode. Thus, after a login and a restart in offline mode, it says "This operation can not be completed when Steam is in offline mode." when I try to play a game. With the ppatcher.ppc above, I can start any game in offline mode, but I like the update protection from SteamLauncher without the problems from SteamDown.

I can't remember right now but I thought after I deleted my .blob and re-logged into steam then I just ran the SteamOnline.reg file from Vengeance. I'll have to double check when I get home. Then HL2 and CZ:DS worked again not really being in an OFFline mode state.

Not if you start Steam without an internet connection whatsoever. In that case Steam asks to start in offline mode, but without the patch described you can't play the games from Steam. At least I can't, try it...

edit: I'm talking about single player games

What is the point of using this if you dont have an internet connection? A. You cannot download games anyway if you dont have an internet connection. B. Your steam cannot update itself anyway if you do not have an internet connection.
