OK I'll contact with some developer and ask him.

You have to extract dedicated server.gcf for HLDS in your pack.

In a stand-alone game, I happened to find out that in the console window, there is a line "No IPX Support".

Problem is that, even after I installed the IPX protocol, it still doesn't work.

Any idea here, Fasi?

Right click on the CS 1.6 shortcut and go to properties Then remove -noipx command line parameter.
I've used the following command line parameters
  1. -steam -game cstrike -noipx -nojoy -noforcemparms -noforcemaccel
Detail of these parameters can be found on Valve wiki => https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Command_Line_Options

I think it will not affect LAN tab because it uses TCP/IP but still you can try.
One more thing, try disabling one network adapter card and use only one card. May be this will fix LAN tab issue.

Thanks for your hints, Fasi. Regrettably, neither method works out. :-(

Hi Fasi

Thanks for all the great work on this release, it is without a doubt the best cs 1.6 release I have seen :)
I have a small issue though, perhaps you can shed some light on this. I can't seem to connect to any lan or favorite servers. If you try double clicking on them through the serverbrowser it freezes up. However if you right click on the server, then go to "view server info", then "join game" it connects just fine. You can also manually connect through the console via the ip with no issues.
I tested this on two machines (both win7 x64). Any ideas?

LAN tab doesn't work for me yet (no server shows up in it, even if I created a New Game locally), but it seems not a problem for others. So it shouldn't be the release's problem.

For the servers added into Favorite tab, I haven't any problem connecting to it. Double-clicking does the job for me. I am using XP. But I think it should be the same in Win7 64bit.

Thanks for the insight. Yeah it is a bit of an odd problem. I've found that if I edit rev.ini and comment out the section below then I can connect without any issues to favorites and lan. Will this cause any problems in the future if I leave them commented out?
[External]
#"SteamMatchMakingServers"=revSrvBrowser.dll
#SteamMatchMakingServers=revSrvBrowser.dll
#"SteamMatchMaking"=revSrvBrowser.dl

A bit strange here. Actually, I myself have played with this part of rev.ini several days before. My intention was to see whether the second line (looking redundant) could be removed. And from my testings, it looks we can remove this line without any side effect. Still, I am waiting for Fasi's feedback, because he is helping me ask serverBrowser's developer to double-check if the second line is really redundant.

Anyway, either I leave this part untouched, or I remove the second line in the "External" section, I didn't come across any problem in connecting to servers added into Favorite tab.

No idea how come these lines would prevent you from connecting to Favorite servers.

Just another note: According to Fasi, if you remove this section, then you could only add P48 servers into Favorite tab, not P47 servers.

Yes, this is problem with Win7 x64 OS only due to bug in Serverbrowser plugin for revEmu "revSrvBrowser.dll"
This bug can't be fixed as it's developer "Crock" is away.

But you can remove this plugin by removing the following lines in rev.ini
  1. [External]
  2. "SteamMatchMakingServers"=revSrvBrowser.dll
  3. SteamMatchMakingServers=revSrvBrowser.dll
  4. "SteamMatchMaking"=revSrvBrowser.dll

Now every thing will be fine but you can't add old P47 servers to favorite tab.

@cjohn124
I've verify these above lines are from developer "Crock" but it is sad because now he is not active here.

Thanks for getting back to me, Fasi.

Now your release is near perfect. Do you have any other target? Ever thinking of porting the release to Linux? It is a shame that such a great game can't be played in Linux.

Yes now my release is near perfect. I don't have any more targets except removing some minors bugs.
I can't port this game to Linux :?
It can be played in Linux through WINE but there might be some performance issue.

Curiously, what bugs have you found still with this release?

Though my lan tab doesn't work, I am pretty sure it is due to my XP environment, not a bug of your release. And except for the problem some other player met in Win7 x64 (first 3 lines in rev.ini), I can't think of any other possible defect with this release.

Yes, there are minor bugs that already known.

1) For some people using Win XP game hangs when they click on options. ( Solution: Delete "hw.dll" file and rename "hw_orig.dll" to "hw.dll" )
2) For some people using Win 7 x64 game hangs when they try to connect to server by double clicking ( Solution: Right click and then click on "Connect to server" )
