Catspaw should have earned some cash from microsoft for what he's done.

Thanks for all the kind remarks. Can't wait for JorjVirus69 to finish the super xlive build. Then I can join in with the praise too.

<serious>
If Microsoft is reading this thread... what would be a reasonable compensation?

Putting these into public server downloadable areas:
0) modified official GFWL to allow private server / LAN hosting without needing LIVE service
1) place harder to obtain secured DLCs (Flight, Red River, Tron Map pack #2, Battlestations Pacific, Game Room, .., many others we missed) into public urls with findable cab names
2) easier to obtain marketplace-only distributed games like Dark Void or Mahjong or other GFWL specials
3) giving out urls for infamous unknown game patches we missed
4) letting us grab other unreleased GFWL material or stuff I forgot about
(in short, let us preserve the whole legacy of GFWL content for future gamers)

Or auction off GFWL PC to 3rd party company.

Huh? Hell no, no other company needs to get their hands on that god awful interface. Best thing that ever happened getting rid of it no matter who owned it.

What happens in business:
1) You try to revive, convert the old company into a profitable strategy
(less likely to happen with GFWL model honestly. Would take a complete overhaul to win people over again. Plus the awful experience of unceremonious "Chainsaw Monday" firings during restructuring...)

(so smart business people I know would auto-skip to #2)

2) Take their resources, capital and sell those off and reuse the better pieces for your own company.

or GOG.

Repackage the games + DLC to be DRM-less + MP LAN friendly. I could accept this solution since we'd still access and they won't be lost to the heaps of history. Retrogamer OCD.

JorjVirus69 will add:
- Multiplayer, which I don't have the skills to do. Hosting games like Section 8 Prejudice will need the full MP network code.

- Full achievement behavior I'm always on the fence about. They're stored in the exe somewhere but I just never really have that urge to figure out the format and such.

- Overlays. Proper messagebox, keyboard, simulated GFWL UI.

Other than that... I think those are the main features. I'm always thinking my work on xliveless core is basically complete. But there always seems to be some niggling overlooked thing I somehow end up working on.

So there might be a 15c. But I don't know what it'd add honestly. 15b does work really well so far.

ah thanks for that,
yeah an overlay message box would be good,
i realised that dirt 2 has issue in win 8 and when it minimises to type profile name it crashes game, i kinda found a work around that in the documents folder if i leave the settings in there the game will minimise and maximise correctly like dirt 3 does but if i delete them the game will crash...weird

There's weird methods to do (windowed) overlays that require Vista. I don't see anything obvious that can be done for fullscreen mode and be XP friendly. It'd take someone smart to pull off GFWL-style overlays.

I'll play around with the Dirt3 box some more as it does go "invisible" on me too. Unless I try hacking the game itself to not be topmost all the time. But it has a "cheat" word detector - shuts down when it sees anything with that forbidden phrase. Browser, trainers, cheat engine, notepad.

So that's incredibly annoying. May have to learn OllyDbg.

yeah i noticed that one if i run dirt 2 in windowed mode then it doesnt crash at profile name as its already windowed,

you've done a great job anyway,

i wouldn't even know where to start, its taken me ages to realise how to make a game installer and thats supposed to be easy

Can I suggest something for 15b if ever happens?
Be able to select the language of the GFWL emulator.
Let me explain.

Some games, like GTA IV, I THINK/GUESS, that it reads in whichever language GFWL Client is. I tested this with real and emu. The emu launch ALWAYS the game in english, but the real GFWL clien, if it's let's say is in Spanish, it launches the game in that language.

It's BY FAR an non-essential feature. But, maybe, nice to see it integrated.

This is very strange. I can change the language of IV at any time in-game, and this setting will be saved (with and without emu).

Check if SETTINGS.CFG (path in Vista+ is [Users]\[User]\AppData\Local\Rockstar Games\GTA IV\Settings) contains the following bytes:
00000084: 04 hex
00000088: 04 hex

04 - Spanish, 00 - English, etc

Yes, I know, you can change it, but that is after you launch the game once and exit.
I never said you can't.
I was pointing out, that, with the real GFWL client, the game will launch in the same language as the client. So, I was asking to emulate the same behavior.

Interesting enough to check out sometime. Didn't realize games could check the GFWL language. I wonder how though.

Currently working on unlocking PS3 character support for PC SFTK via exe mods (for SFTK modders). Extra costumes are usable (like Cole) and extra fighters can be used in arcade mode. Mega Man + Pac-Man movies are loading. Prologue, epilogue movie subtitles are missing from what I can tell.

Pac-Man also uses a glyph language like Ogre for post-battle subtitles. Capcom only left Ogre's data but maybe it's possible to rig up Pac-Man speak. There's some other PCM, MGM bugs that are a mystery - gems, plate titles.

edit:
SFTK alpha3 out
- PS3 character roster

Pac-Man talk icons
Pac-Man, Mega Man movies
PCM, MGM title plates
