New appid is 4610.
A new appid will need to be posted for everyone to be able to see each others games because steam seems to be blocking recently posted ones every couple days.

it works!! i'm hosting a game now. ok these are hte things i've done i'm not sure which are necessary and which are not:
1. i've followed the complete instructions on the first post 2. not necessary to have the people you want on your friendslist 3. the crux is the new appid that was just posted -- 4610
qn: how do we know when it's changed and what it's been changed to?

If you are only playing with people in your friends list, you will never have to change appid, just join through the friends list. (both need to have same appid though)
You will know when it is changed if you get a friend to host a game and you can't see it in the list or no games are up in UK London for ~15 minutes.

You won't be able to see the game in the list if you're on each others friends list, but you need to go to friends list and right click his name if he is hosting and click join game.
I guess new appid will be posted here.

OK well I am seeing games listed now with the new appid which is great improvement but I am getting an error every time I try to join a game ("error joining multiplayer session"). Any ideas?

Also i realize there is Sid Meiers Civilization V Update 2-SKIDROW, but it just fixes crashing for spanish windows XP, so i wont update the guide.

OK, I've tested a couple of games now. Out of the 10 games i joined, 1 worked. Most would start with the other people disconnected, 1 just failed to load.
I hosted a game and 1 person joined and we started it. We both could not build a city or move units. Anyone got any suggestions?

Forward ports on your routers.

kelciorq wrote: Forward ports on your routers. Yeah that's what I was thinking too. Been searching which ports they are, but haven't found out yet.... any idea which ports need forwarding? Edit: Gonna try the steam ports The following ports must be open in your firewall and router for Steam and Steam Games to work: UDP 1200 (used for friends service) UDP 27000 to 27015 inclusive TCP 27020 to 27039 inclusive

YES! I forwarded the ports both on my router and in the windows 7 firewall. Not sure which did the trick, or if it was both, but confirmed working for me in win7 x64 with SKIDROW update1. To everyone else that can't get it to work, follow instructions in first post , and if it doesn't work forward your ports.
