YES! I forwarded the ports both on my router and in the windows 7 firewall. Not sure which did the trick, or if it was both, but confirmed working for me in win7 x64 with SKIDROW update1. To everyone else that can't get it to work, follow instructions in first post , and if it doesn't work forward your ports.

Most likely windows firewall is causing the issue... No need to use a shitty software firewall when your router does a better job.

I play with the windows firewall service switched off and i don't need to forward anything on my router.

Internet button worked before.. Now i added patch 2 from skidrow, deleted steamclient.dll and the button is disabled once again. I tried starting with smartsteam same effect. I also tried restarting steam and trying again. And i also tried adding other exes as well, revloader.exe, shortcut to it with steamappid, launcher.exe and the dx11 exe.

I can't get the Internet button to work again, any ideas?

Edit: Great. Now i can't play singleplayer anymore... Crashes when nearly finished loading...

Skidrow Patch 1 and 2 are both 1.0.0.20. Blame the developers for their dumb numbering system.

Quote:
1.0.0.20 (Skidrow Patch 2)
Released 9/30/2010

    * Fix for a crash that occurs on bootup for customers using a Spanish Windows XP operating system.

1.0.0.20 (Skidrow Patch 1)
Released 9/27/2010

    * Modding - Installer and permissions fixes. Should address any remaining mod download and install issues.
    * Full screen crash fix. Game will now restart in Windowed mode if it cannot find a suitable full-screen resolution on first start.
    * Hall of Fame now records data correctly when using a Windows username with special characters.
    * Fix for Puppet State production exploit.
    * Misc crash fixes.

1.0.0.17 (Included in Skidrow's initial full game release)
Released 9/23/2010

    * Special character fix for Windows usernames: Users with non-english characters in their windows username would experience a game crash. This has been fixed, and a forthcoming fix will address an issue related to this where game victories are not recorded in the Hall of Fame.
    * Default resolution fix for DX9: Some users who have non-standard or below the minimum specification resolutions crashed before starting. Now, the system will change to Windowed mode and start so it does not crash.
    * AI city weighting: AI will not quite as freely offer up their cities when asking for peace.
    * Gold per turn glitch: When agreeing to a deal for anything above 5 gold per turn in exchange for something else (like a luxury), the deal would always only pay 5 gold per turn, regardless of the amount proposed. This has been corrected.

I'm using Patch 1 and I have no problems using the Steam Friends method to host and join games (still using old appid of 33310 too).

After doing this my Civilization just crashes to desktop without anything popping up. The only time I've had Civ working online was once with RevLoader and now that doesn't work either.

I think the crashing is due to it missing steamclient.dll.

Anyone else with this problem?

steamclient.dll just lets you run civ without steam running, when you run game with steam its using steamclient.dll from Steam folder.

Reinstalled the game using the Skidrow iso, applied Patch 1, deleted steamclient.dll, changed the appid, and opened ports. Still crashes to desktop.

I disabled the intro video and it still just crashes instantly. Oh well, games not really worth this much hassle.
