Just thought I would help a little here.

For those trying to play coop with friends. Use the latest steam WITHOUT Greenluma. Use the steamworks crack. This will work with both version of the game. Make sure your friends have the same version as you. The game will not work with earlier Steam versions.

So in short you must have:
Latest Steam without Greenluma running.
Any version of the game with steamworks crack.
Your friends are running same cracked version.

Lastly, allow game through firewall.

Bang, multiplayer works.

go to game folder and delete D3DX9_40.dll and game will use that file from system32 folder because is part of DirectX and all gamers must have it updated.

Yeah this should do it. I suggest you guys get the update 1 too because it fixes a lot of stuff.
Been playing this game for days now with friends and it's working great aside from one issue but that's resolved.

i used the NOSteam update and steamfix and im getting crashes without error message after each missions. Any thoughts?

Are you using the new mp fix?

Cant get MP to work with my friend..
I try to invite him into my game but he just gets "Error failed to join game".

We are both using the sama version of the game;
- Payday 2 Beta-nosTEAM
- Payday 2 Update 1-FTS
- Payday 2 Steamworks Fix-RVTFiX

How do i invite him into my game from the lobby?

Don't invite him, you just make a game and make sure it's friends only NOT public.
Then he goes into crimenet and presses F then checks friends only games and worldwide. He should find you.
Your name will be green if you're friends.

you don't even need to check crimenet, you may join games from main menu using the steam overlay. just right click/drop down, "join game".
if all else fails, just invite your friend through that same steam interface.

i've gotten that sort of error from a couple of situations but i'm unsure if it's the same exact problem.
a. you or your friend's reputation (level) is too low to be a part of the mission (based on amount of stars/risk level).
b. the game you are *joining* fills up right as you join.
try making a low star/risk mission and see if he can join you. if he still can't join you then there's simply something missmatched between you two, like game version, steamworks fix, perhaps network settings preventing it?, etc."e=

Still doesn't seem to work. We both followed the exact same procedure
Download the game
Apply update 1
Apply steamworks crack listed on first page of this thread

We both can see other games but not each others, they just never show up in the list. In addition we see completely different games on crime.net so i'm assuming the game simply pulls a random set of games for each player
Invite through steam doesn't work
Ticking friends only shows no games

If someone can CONFIRM that inviting through steam overlay works then at least we have a solid starting point, because right now if we try to do that we instantly get 'error joining game'. Almost like it doesn't even try to connect it just immediately fails
Do we need to port forward? in which case what ports does the game use?

today steam has problems with server and i think that now we can't play online

BigSillyGoose I have to say that sounds like a port forwarding issue. You should google search to find out which port(s) the beta uses.

i can confirm steam overlay invites working, played a bunch yesterday and today all with inviting friends. i just clicked invite friends in the lobby menu, then my friend list pops up and i click "Invite" works great.

I could also join via crime.net to friends. They are green. Or just set filter options to friends-only.
