Look back a page or two. I was told by a few people that a Core I7 is important for gaming.

download the game and write to a bluray disk  that's why I said get a bluray "WRITER" not a "READER". so you can write not just read.

nowadays if you have a Core i5 you can play every game with decent frame rate. most of games ain't even optimized above 4 Cores.
so you need more Clock Speed than the number of Cores like having Core i5 with 3.9GHZ is better than having Core i7 with 2GHz Speed (just as an examples)

I know that. You know that but a few others are convinced otherwise.

770 is just too high it will be like DR3 spec i guess.

My guess :-

OS: 64-bit Windows 7/Windows 8
Processor: Intel Core i5 or equivalent AMD
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: GeForce 670 or 660ti
Hard Drive: 60 GB available space

GTA V is said to be one of the potential candidates for AMD's Mantle, so this time AMD users might get the upper hand in terms of performance...

well 8GB RAM is too high too. RAM is mostly used for storing various kind of details when the game is running like health, number of bullets, missions details and when it comes to bullet engine the physx details like that there can be a lot of information but it's not that high as you think 6GB is is also a bit high. and about the Geforce 670/660 I think it's not that enough because the game has a lot of high resolution textures and processing them needs a lot of power and when they come up with features like anti aliasing ,ambient occlusion, tessellation it's not enough (Max Payne 3 has these features so GTA V should have too because of the same engine)

^ Dead Rising 3 is XONE - and it requires GTX 670 as recommended.

Shadow of Mordor PS4/PC/XONE is being done by one studio - and it requires GTX 660 as recommended.

and GTA V which also should be close to 670 cause it not truly a current gen game they will be using some assets of last gen but still i listed GTX 670.

those two above listed game are also open world.

Wouldnt the higher ammount of ram be good for sandbox games though. It would save some data so that it would be loading off the HDD / SSD

@apdonato be realistic dude

see specs of last gen port

Metal Gear Rising

Minimum:
OS: XP or Vista or 7 or 8
Processor: Intel Core i5 2400
Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia Geforce GTS 450
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Hard Drive: 25 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX compatible sound card

Recommended:
OS: XP or Vista or 7 or 8
Processor: Intel Core i7 3770
Memory: 4 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia Geforce GTX 650
DirectX: Version 9.0c
Hard Drive: 25 GB available space
Sound Card: DirectX compatible sound card

and lets consider 2 year old game Darksider 2

Minimum:
OS: Windows XP, Windows Vista SP1 or Windows 7
Processor: 2.0Ghz Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor or AMD equivalent
Memory: 2GB
Graphics: NVIDIA 9800 GT 512 MB Video Card or AMD equivalent
DirectX®:
Hard Drive: 20 GB space free (10 GB free after install)
Sound:

which listed 9800 as minimum this card almost equals to your card..

you picked the odd game with ridiculous requirement statements, either indicating that those games are bad ports, or what also often happens is that the requirement sheet is not accurate...

99% of currently released games still work fine on a high end Core 2 Duo (E67##, E8###) with a 8800 GT 512MB or newer... (assumed as minimum configuration needed). there is exception to every rule but this still holds true for the vast majority of titles.

yes this is also quickly changing as games will start ignoring last gen and release solely as next gen console games (instead of cross gen). this will put the final nail in the coffin for older PC hardware.

and as i said, official requirement pages are sometimes wrong, i'll give you for instance:

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

Uplay/Steam claims to require a Core 2 Quad Q8400 and NVIDIA GTX 260 as minimum

yet it gets 30-50 fps on Core 2 Duo E8400 @ stock clock speeds

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4R6bdrX-P5U

yes jungle scenes are a bit less CPU intensive than city scenes but frame rates won't differ much (i can advocate to that with my own experiences with my modest hardware)

also runs well on a stock 9800 GT

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZFjIiBsEYo

so conclusion being that it would also run with acceptable frame rates on a 8800 GT with a least a C2D E6700 2.66 (with minimum settings at lower resolution)

Now lets move onto BF4 with surprisingly opposite results of stated minimum requirements

Battlefield 4

Origin claims to require a Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz as minimum

yet a E8400 at stock clock (3 GHz) struggles to maintain 25 fps on low settings

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtIHp6aOOno

indicating that you really shouldn't run BF4 on an older dual core, and yet a game that says it should need quad core (AC4) actually still runs fine on an older dual core.

so the bottom line is, fuck what the requirement sheets say.

Avalone wrote:
so it's now quite obvious the CPU has to be somewhat good and as I noticed in PC trailer there were a lot of effects, high resolution textures, more traffics, more grasses, more animals in wild areas and light is quite better then it indicate that the GPU has to be better too and since the texture resolution and quality is high it's quite obvious at least 1 to 2GB VRAM is required

yes but all of those changes should be tweak-able in the settings menu. you should be able to turn down those settings to last gen quality, allowing it to run on older hardware such as dual cores and video cards with 512 MB vRAM.

Avalone wrote:
so the recommended system requirement is this (as I predicted)

Intel Core i5 Processor with 2.8GHz Speed
60GB Hard Disk Space
6GB Memory
Nvidia (I am not sure about ATI) Geforece 780 Graphic Card with 2GB VRAM
Windows Vista or above operating system

and Minimum system requirements (the conditions are these I considered the game should work at least with 20FPS and with Lowest possible settings)

Core 2 Duo 2.8GHz Processor
60GB Hard Disk Space
Nvidia Geforce 8800GT (no driver support before 4xx series so expect a lot of bugs) or above/ Geforce GT 420 or better (have driver support)
4GB RAM
Windows Vista or above.

i agree with this for the most part. it will probably require 4 GB RAM as minimum, but frankly if it was a properly optimized game it should only need 2 GB RAM for 32-bit OS as a sufficient minimum.

my only big fear at this point would be a jump to 64-bit OS and DX11 minimum. this was the case for Wolfenstein and CoD Ghosts and i was frankly surprised to see this jump so soon. yes 64-bit is superior but with the next gen being so new, i find it very hard to believe that developers have learned to take advantage of 64-bit computing so well that it would simply not run for 32-bit. i think failure to support 32-bit and DX10 would probably be more out of laziness than anything else, for this point in time. given a game based on last gen such as GTA V.

this is not Dead Rising 3 this is GTA V and it uses a different Engine and it also has AO, Tessellation like that power hungry graphical features and with it MSAA and High resolution shadows and textures are combined noway you can play it on GTX 660 with max settings with 60fps unless the Engine is so optimized but I don't think like that because it is just a console port comes from 7th generation perhaps on GTX 770 it might work but not anything below but of course you can play on any graphic card since GT 8800 if you have a decent processor if you can set the settings to a bit lower I meant if you want to set everything max and play on 1080p then you obviously need a powerful GPU.

Isn't the GTX770 just a GTX680 with a slightly better cooler and a few tiny changes. I would say Recomended hardware would be a decent quad core with 4GB of ram and GTX780 , minimum would probably be a dual core , 2GB ram and GTX460
