I did the first DLC and it registered on steam. But it doesn't seem to register some achievements that has been done. Such as the Discovered maps from the main game which might work if i revisit those areas again.

Well, I've read all 10 pages, know about the screwup on wgn, some identified the forums, started a witchhunt again.. sigh.. hope nothing wrong occurs, you can't even "move" to another hosting&domain without anyone notice it.. We all have to be extra careful from now on. Last comment on the matter, I would thought that sharing knowlegde was a good thing and that I'd like to know if someone else finds something useful. I don't believe nor encourage privatizing knowledge and adventages, but now I see what could happen when this info is freely shared without consideration.

Now, after I saw everyone starting activating BL1, I decided it was time to redeem my legal steam key copy, GOTY version, cause it seemed the best time to either use it or give it away; trading it was *suspicious* to say the least, so as I wanted to play it (never did before), it was a go.

Regarding the DLC thing, I do have the files, alegedly updated since I'm downloading a goty legal game. Once I have them, it would only need to (if "a friend" wanted to play the dlc) copy the folders and be done with it?

I have the zip file which says version 1 & 2 (screenshots) -funny: there's no screenshots at all!- with the steam_api.dll, the brucie one.. Do I need that? there are not clear instructions or steps, and even if we all can try first ask later, if I fail in something that could lead to trouble. Also have the SFV file by sam, that should help, I think.

I have plenty of failures and crap so I don't want or need another one.

Please let me know if I got it right, if you guys want more info or clarifications I'll do my best. Thank you all

I started a new game with Roland only to see if the achievement Down in Front will work. It doesn't. So i think this will be also attract attention if many people get no more achievements. But maybe its only a steamworks error, who knows?

Does anyone tested the method with the GOTY version to see if Steam installs the DLC ?

If you own the GOTY Edition legit, than you obviously don't need Brucie's wrapper to unlock the DLC, since they're unlocked from the start... In case someone uses the exploit described here, he'll have to get the DLC files (5gb in size) too - with SecuROM removed (sam2k8 posted the SecuROM removal patch and TRiViUM released clean maps already years ago) and then use Brucie's wrapper with the correct .ini entries to unlock the DLC properly if they aren't recognized with the original api... If that's what you wanted to know...

People, why would you need brucie's wrapper?
The DLC unlocks just fine just by having the 5 GB DLC files.

Well, first, thanks for your reply. Let's see if this makes sense: my goty version does not need to do anything; it should work "straight out of the box". Now, on another steam account (base game obviously), what would I need to do to make them work just like my original game?
like for example: copy my 5gb DLC files over another folder where is installed and that's it? add the brucie files?
Some say you do, others say you dont. pull it together for once

I want to ask about why steam/2k/gearbox don't have any action ? I think they already know this exploit, They do not know we have retail disc or just a piracy copy , so they cannot banned anyone ?
Why they don't update borderlands tool and prevent new activation for illegal copy ?
May i asking all of you use this exploit on main acc or second acc ? I use this expoilt on my main acc ..
They really cannot do anything on our account ?
Next question: we only need to download 5gb dlc file , after that its auto unlock on game ? My account will display I have own that dlc ? Steam can check about this and banned account ?

You ask too many questions that none of us would be able to give exact answers. If you aren't sure, just don't do it - it's that simple.
About the DLC - it won't show on your account unless you own the GOTY.

Even though the DLC can be played for free and all, I still wanna buy it just for the sake of completion. And Gearbox deserves my money. Gonna wait for winter sale though.

I bought Metro 2033 yesterday to 3.99 euros for Deep Silver Offers.
It is true when the games are very good and that we can, it's try to support the devs.
And Borderlands 1 is for me better than Borderlands 2, just for the heads that break out when you make a headshot (good time) and dismemberment who disappeared in 2, which for me has ruined the gameplay and the identity of Borderlands.
