It would be very easy to create unlocker tool which will add Borderlands to any account you wish without need for DVD image. Basically, it sends encrypted payload over SSL Quote: GET /granter.php/grants/00/<encrypted payload 233 bytes as hex string> HTTP/1.1 Host: blupgstm.2k.com User-Agent: BGT/1.0 I haven't yet reverse-engineered encryption. It seems to be timestamped, thus payload expires after while, but it's not protected against reply attacks so you can resend it again. |

Put the borderlands folder in steam's common folder and hit the install button in library. Doesn't seem to work. Kept the acf file and entered the verification process which deleted all the files lol. Oh well, we only play LAN games with friends so it's fine anyway MerolaC wrote: ChrisTX wrote: I've been wondering, was Borderlands originally sold without CD keys of any kind? It did surprise me that they went for this path of an activation tool instead of just redeeming the retail CD keys on Steam like most games migrated to Steam do. Yes, it didn't have any CDKey, just a CD Check. That's how many people played the game Online, with a Mini-Image and a GameSpy account. I, for one, haven't touched the DVD for years, hell, I used it like twice for installing the game, then, I just used the MiniImage so I don't get the DVD scratched for being on the DVD Drive. There was no need for a mini-image to play on GameSpy |

I already tried to Mount the Image with DT PRO advanced (using the right click menu on the image) both after launching the Borderlands Tool (...and receiving the obvious message that i need the DVD as first try...) and before starting Steam (and in that case i have the error above...) DAMM... I HATE when i cannot understand why things don't work... first of all when i'm sure i did everything exactly as described... Any idea on what the problem could be ?!? I'd like to try an idea i had, before trying to completely uninstalling Steam to do a reinstall from scratch and retry... Is there anyone that have an OLD ORIGINAL steam_api.dll file with version 2.3.15.38 to give me ?? (I think it should be from last November or December...) Thx anyway Clay |

magicdave26 wrote: Waiting to see all the "FFFFUUUUUUU My steam account got banned" This won't happen. The tool is made for legit owners of the DVD, you just trick it to make you think it is the real DVD. If Gearbox accepts your image as a DVD, it gives you a key. Afterwards, it is not possible to determine if it was a real DVD, only possibility is to update the tool and scan for daemon/alc to prevent new activations. And if you ban a player for having used his real DVD, you gonna have a bad time. |

magicdave26 wrote: Waiting to see all the "FFFFUUUUUUU My steam account got banned" There's no basis in the SSA to warrant a ban against people abusing this. I don't know if they've taken any precautions in order to detect people who use an emulator and possibly retroactively revoke their activations. Such measures pose an unlikely scenario though, considering DaemonTools' emulation is very good and the mere presence of an emulator installation could be coincidental, I doubt that would happen. Additionally, most people with legit Steam accounts will likely own Borderlands already since it has been on deeply discounted regularly - thus implementing triggers to ban accounts with emulator-based activations of them seems to make little sense. |

Why on earth would you spread this? Are you stupid or trying to get attention & hits, Royalgamer06? The more you spread, the sooner, Valve will fix the issue. Worse, they might just 'remove' the game for all. Just keep these things to RIN community (as it was founded by community member). |

And I'm being generous. |
