ALI123's update files doesn't really solve my problem. The offline launcher will launch the game, but it doesn't let me log into my Social Club account. So if you bought the game and is stuck in the Social Club "loading..." screen, like me, we're out of luck. I wonder when Rockstar will finally get something right.

Guys, I downloaded Full Unlocked Retail version and today a friend gave me a key. How can I use the files I got so I don't need to download everything again?

My time to shine! Done this so many times.

1. Go to ???\Steam\Steamapps\Common
2. Figure out what folder GTA uses (ask your friend for this)
3. As an example we'll say its gtav
4. Create a new folder with that name
5. Drag and drop all the files you have pirated
6. Start the installation in steam, it'll say discovering files
7. After it has finished downloading right click > properties and verify file integrity so it every file is fixed and none are missing

Go to http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/ and create an account and link your code to said account. Then start the game and login normally.

it may look like steam is downloading the entire game, but check the progress bar.. it should be almost complete and steam should only download a ~400MB with redist.
just be sure steam "discovers" the files and all should be fine.
