So many languages, but a few stand out:
C++ (the one and only)
-> Dev-C++ www.bloodshed.net
BASIC
-> RAPIDQ www.basicguru.com/rapidq
-> Just Basic www.justbasic.com
-> QBasic (does not support sockets) www.qbasic.com
Scripting Languages
-> Perl www.activestate.com
-> Python www.python.com
-> Tcl www.activestate.com
Pascal
-> Turbo Pascal community.borland.com/museum/
REBOL (good for web apps)
->REBOL http://www.rebol.com/
Java (very blah, I hate this language)
->Javac java.sun.com
My personal favorite is RAPIDQ, but unfortunatly, the dude who wrote it no longer updates it .
I haven't looked at some of the languages so I cant give opinions on all of them...but I can tell you that I have these languages around, each for a reason:
RAPIDQ -- For nice looking GUIs, supports these dumbassed "streams" for networks, and nothing else. Not the best netapp maker.
QBasic -- To piss off friends at schools by making all the computers in the lab beep or something. Not really all that useful, but if you must know, it was an advanced scripting tool included with Windows 95.
Dev-C++ -- Most stuff is written in C++ so, its a must have. Standard, huge, and over-complex. Only fun to use when you're messing with someone else's stuff.
RapidBATCH -- Oops, www.rapidbatch.com ... QBasic on drugs (with stuff like network support)

I would recommend learning c++. It is what most things are done in these days and it is a very powerful language. Half life 2 was done in c++. If you want to be able to do anything useful with programming then learn c++. VB6 can do a bit, but it can't really do heaps compared to c++.

Hi all..
Nice Pic LOL
if u have a skill in VB, better to move to vb.net, and if u understand well in vb, try powerbasic to create hack prog.
To get retail powerbasic , search www.filedonkey.com and use keyword 'powerbasic'.
If u like to learn programming, u must choose 1 lang first. After u nderstand well how windows, memory work than try another language. The best is MASM. I use it since 1990 (DOS day), new masm32 is http://www.masm32.com/
I start with gwbasic, M$ business basic, M$ Profesional Basic 7.1
Anyway it's better to learn,

Just learn the hard basic of ASM and Reversing.
This is what i use, but im no expert.
Suggested tools:
C++
C#
Perl
JAVA
Windsm32 - Dissasembler
Softice - Debugger
Oggy - Debugger
HIEW - Enocded view of files
This cant be to hard to learn! You could get a good basic of all of them in about 6 months! if you have the right sites!
Took me 4 Years to learn them!
Good Luck!
