The game will be! It doesn't matter if good or bad! It does not matter after 13 years if the game is shit in a box my friend, as long as it's out I am buying it! The whole industry is going to change when this game comes out by simply not having the biggest vaporware to point to. Duke Nukem Forever is finally leaving the vaporware ranks!
What you need to consider is that this game which will come out is going to be 90% made by 3drealms and 10% made and polished by gearbox! So if 3drealms was able to deliver on duke3d I don't see why they can't deliver on DNF either?
It will pretty much feel like like DN3d lots of times since 90% of it is made by DN3d creators.

Duke 3D came out in 1996. It's 2010. That's Fourteen (14) years of dev time. WTF are they making?! It had better be as ground breaking as Half-Life 1 was when it first came out.

Other notable Vaporware titles:
StarCraft: Ghost
Black Mesa Source (Six years and counting)
Half-Life 2: Episode 3 (3+ years now)

Also, Wikipedia reports the Pax Demo is actually the really old version of the game. The one 3D Realms made way back when.
