Crysis does not satisfy me. For some reason I don't like the textures. Crysis looks low quality when you look at objects or cars closely. But when you take the bigger view on the jungle the trees, it just becomes like wow.
Crysis is a really nice looking game, but DirectX 11 will bring us better. If CryEngine 3 supports DirectX 11, our ways will open.
But hey, did anyone mention ArmA 2 or Arrowhead yet? If you are able to max that game out, you have pretty much the same quality like crysis. Maybe a little less, but the game looks very good. ArmA 2 has a potential, but since it is a very bad performing game on every machine, nobody will ever succeed maxing it out.
The point is that we will reach the limit of visual quality, but we will never reach the limit of the way we reach it. Imagine that we have games in ten years from now which draw every leaf of a tree? Every tiny particle?
I suggest we draw a map or chart. We draw all performance marks and then we create our prediction line, we add a few games to the time line like Doom 3 and Crysis. And we see where it goes. Now let's cross our fingers and wait for Crysis 2 ?

this topic has been discussed many a time in a lot of forums. To me the whole graphics over gameplay is a matter of choice. One person might get into the game because of the "realistic" graphics. But others get into it becuase of the immersive gameplay. Also since Crysis comes up in this topic, but since its still fairly new lets go back into the past a little to Half-Life when that came out I believe that was praised for the graphics too but after some time the graphics became obsolete and what made that game memorable was the story and gameplay.

While i play FEAR 2 i hold Max details. It gives me the best gaming experience, and my pc can run it well, about 40-50 fps. But when i play games like CSS, or other online games, i don't want any single slowdown, if i found i have slowdowns, details goes to <insert a number under '0' here.> %. Even tho it happens sometimes.

I still think that most games these days are more about being graphically impressive versus being long and worthwhile in terms of gameplay.

Gameplay vs Graphics:
On BFBC2 you have enough time to enjoy the graphics, so turning it down may be a waste. I would get my self a DX11 card just to see the very little difference. Well anyway I love BFBC2 maxed out when I am not blinded by the most irritating brightness ever.
On Call Of Duty MW2 I remembered myself turning down the graphics to a minimum except for textures. The game was even more enjoyable.
Crysis its graphics didn't satisfy me for some reason. Don'T get me wrong, it's a very nice game when you can look at the jungle from a long distance. But when you look closer at everything is simply sucks.
HL2 Cinematic Mod, great mod, certainly for graphics hungry people, but again, still not satisfying me.
What does satisfy me? Blow something up in BFBC2 and look at every particle flying in the sky! That's gameplay. There is not even one explosion that looks the same to me
