i don't think it matters if you change your current config or keep it because your pc is really fucking slow and with the new config it wouldn't change significantly. get a proper pc for 200 - 300 bucks and you will notice a performance increase!

Damn, i still have one active PC with Athlon XP and it runs Win 7 perfectly fine.

Also, i've seen netbooks with those atom processors and they are sloooooww, probably can't run Win 7.
The only advantage of the Atom over the old Athlon XP is the much lower power consumption.

Yes, power consumption makes the difference here. Oh, and 1 instead of 2GB RAM in 2011 makes quite a difference. If you want to run a newer Windows on it, you need more RAM.
From my experience, an Atom with 2GB RAM runs Server 2008 R2 just fine. I don't know about Aero etc though. Anyways, forget about gaming with either of them, but you probably know that.

Don't replace it. Be patient until you are able to get more decent replacement with minimum 2GB RAM. Also 2GB DDR3 is ultra cheap these days, cheaper than 1GB DDR2. You can buy a decent mainboard for 80-100 eur, 4GB DDR3 for ~40 eur, intel core i3 processor for ~100 eur, and some nVidia GT 430 graphics card for ~70 eur.

"RAM: 2 GB DDR 333Mhz"

333Mhz sounds darn like DDR1 - if so, you could sell that for a lot on eBay.
