i didn't know if my old emule mod thread was still here or was deleted long ago
Its all about picking up where one guy left off and handing the reigns to another..

One of the private trackers i belong to is rutracker.org
if not sure what that is ? Its a Russian only private torrent tracker for all types of media
and they are incredible at high quality flac rips.. my main source for my Flac collection :)
And its a Russian speaking only community and its the only reason why i have Google Chrome installed
Chrome's auto rus->eng translate feature is awesome !

I used to belong to Filelist.org but i went inactive for a long time ..not sure if there even around anymore
Someone gave me a demonoid invite here in offtopic ..i go by there everyonce in a while too

Chances to get busted with P2P apps is a tons of times higher than with torrents. Actually, Ares and Frostwire both rely to some or full extend on BitTorrent as well.

You might want to use TOR or some similar software.

rutracker.org has a lot of the rare artists that I wanted. It's not private though, it's semi-private. You can register at certain times of the day (at least that's how it was when I registered), and I couldn't find anything about ratio requirements. Also, last time I downloaded something from there, I didn't even have to log in. It was a crack though, not music. I strongly recommend the site for those who don't have access to what.cd. Nowadays, I get all my music from what.cd in FLAC, as I have been lucky to be able to build up a ratio that will last me a long time, during the last freelech @ Xmas. :cool: It is truly the best music source - by far.

RuTracker is indeed great. I'm a member there and have found many music packs in high bitrates that weren't available anywhere else. I don't download lossless, but I've always been told that its share of FLAC is also excellent, in part due to the fact some uploaders steal releases from two more "elite" sites with very strict rules. And its million-sized userbase makes sure torrents stay alive over time with good speeds.

"It's all in Russian and I don't speak it" is the main deterrent to join for some, but you don't need to speak the language to use a search bar and click on "download .torrent", and to check the comments there's either Chrome's inline translation or Google Translate. All in all, a very good place.

They went down for a long while two years ago, then resurfaced as Filepost.org as the previous domain had been stolen. They managed to stay afloat, but due to closed signups and no invites, the place remained a shadow of what it used to be. They were working until around a week ago, when they went down again. Not even the staff knows what happened, the last things I heard were that the admin was nowhere to be seen, and many uploaders retired.

I used BeeMP3 before finding out about better alternatives. It wasn't that bad (although the search engine often gave a lot of noise unrelated to what I seeked), and the bitrate was visible on the details box for each track, so you could see what you were getting before you did it.

I'd advice against that. Tor isn't for P2P. Tunneling traffic through it only cripples the network and makes it slower for those who want to give it its intended usage - uncensored Web and chat. Paid VPN services (with port forwarding or dedicated IPs) are much better to conceal filesharing traffic.

I think registration is always open nowadays, although indeed you could only sign up during certain hours in the past - I had to stay extra time in front of the computer the day I made my account ("Зарегистрирован: 2010-01-03"), as timezones were a bitch and they were never open during daytime :D

Ratio requirements do exist, they're in the FAQ. I think you must keep a >0.3 ratio after you've downloaded 5 gigs.

They are the same @ TL.. mods/staff are idiot wankers..
Just don't seek contact with any staff on any site, they will get look at your ratio/hitnrun stats etc for a quickfix.

TL seems to be very money-oriented. I know a few people who got banned, but managed to get their accounts back after making a generous donation. Also, look at all those Travian and poker referrals, and "facebook of sex" ads they used to have. I know server bills are expensive, but it's still a bit spooky.

They're another tracker I used to be on, but this time I gave my account away to someone who wanted to get in. Their new design sucked anyway.

yeah I agree, I rarely use it.. im on someone else's account anyway.. got 4TB more uploaded than downloaded :P still I prefer SCC

As I've said before,for more popular stuff,that's on TV or some memorable game I use the local tracker:Zamunda.NET that's where I get my maximum speeds from(up to 10MB/s,even hogs CPU for that).For rare stuff,yes, RuTracker.org is pretty damn good,the only word I need to understand is "Скачатъ".For other means,like latest cracks and fixes: just warez-bb.org,yes,the file hosts are annoying and slow as hell,but that's what automatic downloaders are for :cool:

Pretty much all of us are veteran pirates and know where to get content from.

You can use TCP Optimizer to enable NIC offloading if supported by your OS and network card. That's supposed to let the latter do certain processing tasks, which takes some burden away from the CPU.

Smart ppl use mRatio :P ( hxxp://www.sb-innovation.de/f46/mratio-3-6-a-26157/ ) it gives you the boost you need (you can still seed normaly ofc, but it will give you a nice start ratio;))
