That's somewhat because you pay a lot for the Apple brand upon purchasing your computer. Also, Windows 7 upgrade was only 50 bucks. Also, it's 30 bucks, learn 2 read. Also, you need 10.6 to upgrade to 10.7, Windows 7 upgrades also work with the 10 year old XP. Plus, this can barely considered an upgrade rather than a service pack, again. If you're not aware yet, let me recap: http://www.apple.com/macosx/whats-new/ - Touch gestures... if you buy a new Mac, of course. - Fullscreen Apps, you serious? DOS could do this! - Launchpad/Mission Control... wow doh, that's one serious upgrade there! - App store was also available in 10.6, isn't new. - Resume... OH COME ON... XP could do this. - Autosave... on Windows you don't exactly need a new OS for this. See more recent Office versions. - Versions... bawawa... NT Shadow copies, do you know it? - Mail... free on Windows? check. - AirDrop... hmhm just me or Windows could do this for ages? As for smaller features, ASLR and sandboxing. Yup, welcome to Windows Vista. Also very lol: They make you pay for a new Safari version (!) ( -> http://www.apple.com/macosx/whats-new/f ... tml#safari ) You're basically paying for a bunch of crap with an OSX upgrade. Thanks for showing your insight, once more. |

ChrisTX You can not upgrade to 7 from XP. You need Vista. Dumb, but that is how it is. Microsoft will tell you to format the drive and then install 7 but the licence key won't work. |

There's no upgrade path from XP to 7, yes. That does not mean that XP is not eligible for an upgrade. If you perform a clean install, you can upgrade from XP to 7. In fact, an in-place upgrade is only possible for Vista SP1 and higher to the same architecture (x64->x86 / x86->x64 are not supported) and to the same or a higher version (Ultimate->Home Premium won't work for instance). However, any XP or Vista license is eligible for a W7 upgrade, meaning, by performing a clean install, it does work. |

ChrisTX Don't forget that after how much years? they finall updated itunes to cocoa and 64bit. Carbon was not even really supported anymore by Apple, still their main app was based on it for years. Oh, and to Muhammad `I'm Hard´ Bruce Lee, I'm allowed to talk bad about OSX, used it for a long time now, and finally few weeks ago I sold my MacBookPro cause of OSX (crashing 4-5 times every day) and glossy display. |

I heard about that before. I'm on a HP Pavilion dv9000 at the moment and it has a glossy display too. It sucks when you stand in front of a window or something, but that's not Apple's problem. Why didn't you choose the antiglare display option if you didn't like it? Also, people usually prefer fixing their computers when they have a problem, not sell them. I've used all versions of Mac OS from 7 to X and Windows from 95 to 7. Operating systems do not crash unless you fuck something up. It's Apple to blame if you had a hardware problem though. (I've heard a lot of things from yellow tinted displays to malfunctioning SSD's.) Have you tried to have a repair or a replacement? |

Steam006 wrote: No, that update is free for snow leopard and windows users. Apple also made xcode 4.1 available for free. If that's so why do they list it under the features new to Lion? Because otherwise their list would look too flat? Face it, Snow Leopard and Lion are a lot cheaper than previous upgrades (Leopard $130 and more) because they are also nothing more but a service pack. MacBook Pro 13-inch: No anti-glare available. MacBook Pro 15-inch: $150 extra. MacBook Pro 17-inch: $50 extra. Yes, why didn't you burn these $150 extra? That, by the way, is more than the Windows license costs you criticized earlier.
