Hey,

I was wondering if its possible to get a swf file that acts as a launcher for an executable?

At school, we aren't allowed to open exe files unless we have the admins permission. I was wondering if there was a way to get past this by opening a SWF file that displays the exe content through the flash player. I have a few small games I'd like us to be able to play with but am preparing for the worst (the school have been changing server systems lately and i'm not sure what policies they are currently enforcing) Is this possible?

I have made a few games from here portable with the REVemu, and hope to be able to run them even if the school have re enforced the exe policy.

Thanks for reading, I know it might be a bit off topic

Yes, the off topic forum suits this better. Moved.

I don't know if it's possible to interact with an executable via Flash Player, although it sounds a little too far-fetched to me.

Is your school's restriction automated? Is it placed solely on .exe files? You might want to change your programs' extensions to .com. Windows will still run them, so it may be worth a try.

Probably not.

Usually such a system would be enforced using Software Restriction Policies (SRP) or AppLocker (if Windows 7). Changing the extension won't help you unless the rules that have been set are having holes. (which is unlikely since deploying such rules requires skill). After all it's the point of such rules not to be broken.

About using a SWF file: No, obviously not possible.

I'm used to noobish protection and the honor system. That's what they had on my school.

I did something like that way back when. Nearly shat myself when I realized I logged in as the admin for the domain of the entire High School. That and the admins, were literally one class room over.

Same here, Except i got caught aswell, for stupid reasons.
Im actually at school at the moment so i cant try any changes, but ill do them tonight.

and Steve Jobs, Yeah similar thing for my schools, except they did set an admin password, one easy to remember and not secure at all.

They've changed their system since then, and changed it back again after reaalising they didnt have the correct programming skills.

My former school used to have an Administrator account shared on all PCs, and one password everywhere. One day, we were supposed to install some update to JavaEditor and were logged into that account and supposed to log out at the end of the lesson. (One day + 2 minutes) pwdump spit out the LM hashes (XP back then, without LM disabled). (One day + 15 minutes) find out that the administrator password is the school's name in leetspeak. Gold.

Haha thats possible one of the worst things a school could do, do they seriously trust a bunch of kids to do what they are told, especially when THAT kind of information is at stake
