And this is why you suck. Because you keep buying it.

So your point is?
As long as there are games like these, people will keep buying them...

Exactly my point. You buy it, they make more of it. Same old shit. It's your fault. I don't buy those games.

Activision is mostly at fault here, they started the trend with the Call of Duty Modern Warfare games. I don't agree with the majority who think that MW2 is a bad game. I think it was a worthy sequel to a fantasic game like Call of Duty 4. MW3 is where they went overboard. I was hoping the leaked info would turn out to be false, that they'd attempt to spice things up a bit and make it a memorable game, but they literally changed nothing and you could say they even made it worse. And now with Black Ops 2 on the way, I have lost hope for the Call of Duty franchise. The worst part is that other companies will likely follow Activision's example, seeing that people are suckers and that rehashing the same old crap will still equal a fair amount of profit for them.

The last FPS I considered buying was BF3. Then it turned out it wouldn't be on Steam and require blablub EA shit and in my mind, I trashed the game as typical EA POS and ended up not buying it. I'm kind of the guy who plays few games and those not much.

To be honest, I think FPS were always that way though. Just in past times, you could make up for it using graphics and what else not. What I kind of enjoy are RTS games, are simulation games - flight, submarines - that kind of stuff -, but for the latter I'd need a joystick, so I end up not playing them on my own computer. FPS were always go there shoot something. They'll always be like that. There are games that make exceptions, those with a fantastic story setting - yes, Half-Life, Bioshock - or also Max Payne* - those with much love to the story. But in the end, SP is something you consume too quickly. It's like complaining "oh my this new movie has a totally dull story blablub same as everything". Yeah, compare action movies to FPS from stories: They're the fucking same thing. In either some terrorist steal nuclear bombs and blablub anti-terror unit white fatball needs to destroy blub only hope.
Guess what, it's not only FPS or action movies this applies to. What about the endless amount of hospital series, of crime series (CSI: <insert any city with >30 people here>, hello?), of dull comedy series (oh yeah Family Guy does this hard - does anyone complain about them?).

In the end, a great story makes a great single-player game - but that's not where the money is at. Really, CoD is played because of it's SP part, right. Or ew, Counter-Strike? Surely. Single-player games have a much higher rate of piracy, the rate of return is too little, and so forth. Multi-player games is where the money is at. CoD, MoH and so on are MP games, whilst they might have SP parts, those are usually done crappy, because improving the SP a lot by spending workforce on it might not be a great investment as optimizing the MP part. This whining is pointless - it's like always with media - or capitalism in general - what is broadly available is what covers the masses. Somehow, there are over two dozen TV series in the German TV program I could enumerate that apparently nobody watches - but which still run because they bring in viewers. If people demand for shit, it's shit they get. So sure, HL is a much higher quality game than CoD - especially from story. Yet, CoD rakes in money and HL doesn't so much.

* - NOT Max Payne 3, I'm talking about 1,2 - not the Rockstar franchise cash-in attempt.
