Hi! On Vista I was able to use the so called EAX Advanced HD with my onboard realtek HD Audio card. There is a hacked Alchemy Universal v1.00.08 and everything was working, like: hl1,Mass Effect 1, FEAR 1, Double Agent, TR: Angel of Darkness and even newer titles like Amnesia - The Dark Descent. Now I updated to win7 and Alchemy is no longer doing anything. I'm stuck with stereo sound. Creative released updated Alchemy v1.41.02 for win7 but I found no hacked version of it and it need creative sound card to work. I won't buy one because they are pointless for any modern game. +I remember how shitty were they when winXP was the newest OS. Is it possible to hack the new Alchemy v1.41.02 to work again with any sound card? or is there any other solution for this problem? |

Creative Alchemy uses device ID checks which make sure you won a X-Fi card - you'll have to modify the binaries for that. So, in theory it is possible to reapply the exact same method that was used previously for the Windows 7 compatible Alchemy version, since Alchemy just translates older DirectSound3D API calls into OpenAL calls. However, I don't think anyone has done this - so you'll likely have to do this yourself, which is likely unachievable unless you have assembly and reverse engineering experience. |

Managed to make it work. I try to explain what I did: -installed the hacked Alchemy Universal v1.00.08 -extracted ALMY_PCVTAPP_LB_1_41_02.exe with 7z -extracted the Alchemy/Bin.cab/TargetDir content to the install location (c:/Program Files (x86)/Creative/ALchemy) overwrite every file -run ScsInstall.exe with parameter -i This is not enough even if I manually copy dsound.dll to gamedir with dsound.ini present. -I uninstalled the realtek driver. -installed "Realtek High Definition Audio X-Fi Mod v2 R2.67 Beta 4.exe". It was terrible as I suspected. It has some kind of 5.1 for legacy games but totally fake. I did not try alchemy with this driver so I don't know if it would worked or not in this situation. -so I uninstalled that one also. -installed the newest realtek driver (64bit_Vista_Win7_Win8_R270.exe). and now for some reason I can run the new alchemy and activate it for games and they have proper 5.1 sound with all effects. Tested with fear 1 and mass effect 1. Maybe it is possibe to install directly the new alchemy now but I won't risk breaking my working setup. I also have OpenAl installed (oalinst.exe 809 496) |
