Use that program I posted before. It completely maxes out your connection. Put it on 2 million runs, and put it onto the master server the 207 etc one. Then put port 27010 and select lock port. Press send and away it goes.

OK with the master serevrs your talking about pinging something real big

Player Count 114,405

current min max
Bandwidth Used 3,084 Mbps 2,235 Mbps 6,089 Mbps
Bandwidth Available 13,635 Mbps 12,415 Mbps 15,521 Mbps

thats there curent player count and bandwith

now 30 people of some forums isn't going to do much what you need and what i think someone suggested is to write a clever virus that infects as many people as it can and reports to and irc channel when there ready. Now when weve got lets say 1000 reports someone runs a command to set eveyone of them to ping steam

This way eventually if it was writtien very well you could get 100'000's of people attacking steam and they'd never be able to handle this. However this is where it start getting really illegal and FBI arrest' etc...

or you could find some kind of other way like posting on a large community. Getting control of someones dedicated 100mbit connection....

lol
You guys have any idea how big the connection to their server would be?
And how easily their upstream providers could just block any ICMP traffic to it?
I highly doubt this would do anything at all...

not an easy thing to do....

This topic is pointless. I mean Valve would block out thousands of people if they disabled 50.000+ accounts. This is so lame, and who would bother. Even if it does work, it'll only be down for like what? 10 minutes? They could just reboot the main system server.

This program sends udp, not icmp, they can't block udp because they run off udp. They are the master servers, all they do is tell people what servers there are, the auth servers tell servers if people connecting are allowed to connect. So there really doesn't have to be much bandwidth. I don't think they would have that much either.
Also, being one IP address, it is probably a 100mbps dedicated server.

You do realise that trying to organize a form of attack on Valve is a form of cyber terrorism. I dont think it would be wise for you to get others to follow you on your pointless crusade. If you really want Half-Life1/2 that bad just buy a copy of the bronze game and stick with ppatcher or steamlauncher.

Getting all these people to ping flood attack Valve from their legitimate IP addresses does not seem like the wisest thing to do. :P

Anarchy only leads you to a dank cell with a guy named Bubba that will spoon with you every night.

With lots of people doing it they wouldn't bother doing anything. It would take them too long and it wouldn't be worth it.

ok....well why couldnt a "hacker" send a hidden virus through their main servers?

they could try

Wouldn't it be better to just make a virus (and nowadays it's quite simple) to infect comps to do our little DDoS attacks?

I think that by making the auth server would make an ironic statment. If we can't play, then no one can play!

well, spreading a virus is a big thing. I wouldn't want to be the one who did it. You are very likely to get caught if you do make a virus.
