Could be a problem with CDR, have you tried loading an old version of it? |

Mine works fine. I have automatic update of the CDR on startup disabled in case that's the key. |

Hey everyone, I tried searching for a fix through the forums, but I could not find anything, it seems the poster above me has the exact same problem. When trying to load up CF Toolbox and selecting the steamapps folder it starts reading the: GCF/NCF files, but when it's done, windows gives me an error. CF Toolbox.exe has stopped working. I tried downloading a different version and running in it compatility mode. Also restarted my PC and deleted all of the CF Toolbox files. Can anyone help me? Kind regards, Joost EDIT: Also tried with an empty folder, even then it crashes. |

How can you disable CDR? CFToolbox crashes before even it opens.... Also, in general, if anyone found a fix of that problem of the CFToolbox crash please share it, its been 3 days now and my gcf/ncf collection had already started to get seriously outdated...... Nick and Kathrine |

If you already had a working install, use Da_FileServer's ClientRegistry Toolkit to open CFToolboxRegistry.blob. Locate the "automaticCDRUpdate" entry under "Config", and set its value to 0. If it doesn't exist, create a DWORD with that name, then set the value. If you're making a new install, try extracting the following archive to the directory where CF Toolbox is installed, then run the program.
After doing that, it works for me. However, when I tried to update the content description record manually via the preferences tab, it lagged for a long time, then crashed silently. This might make it work, but is not a real solution, as an updated CDR is necessary for CFT to be aware of changes in Steam's catalog. |

Let me quote this from July 2011: steamCooker wrote: well it's cause it's coded like crap ... the CDR became to large for some buffers ... fixed it viewtopic.php?p=752068#p752068 Probably it's too large again for some buffers. |

The disabling CDR trick works fine but it is not a solution since the files cant get updated descriptions. Whatever kind of description record updating ends up on CFT crash anyway..... Lets hope someone will fix the issue soon, maybe steamCooker needs to compile a new CFT version after all Nick and Kathrine |

And ... it would prevent to lost the source "again"! |

And HOW you solve it? By just higher the values for buffers spaces (static), or do you implement a dynamic memory allocation for this? I'm asking, because I'm thinking forward to next 1/2 year (when next growing CDR overflowes the buffer's sizes). |
