How about trying to run Steam once WITHOUT ppatcher. Then exit and run it with ppatcher.
Another suggestion, try downloading and playing Codename Gordon without using ppatcher, then try the patcher again and see if it works.
Maybe you need to have at least one legit/downloaded game on there?

Why does this seem to not affect only a small number of people? I made a post asking, but it got deleted.  PPatcher still works fine for me...

And chipz, I really don't know but I hope we can find some kind of reason or pattern to explain why this is happening to some people.

could it be that people who get the ticket error got their accoutns blocked ages ago for the cd key exploit and valve keep record of ip's and now they are banned???

Mine also still works and like you should all hopefully know.. my ppatcher wont help much since it isnt too different from the ones already posted.

Maybe all the people who say it works are really Valve trying to screw us over. Or maybe all the people just say it works just for the attention.

Is your PPatcher working inconjunction with Steam-Down? Plain Steam (steampowered.com) or another client?
I have .CFG files from the 12th of January including ones before the silent update which I have backed up on DVD which I will try when using these 3 PPatchers.

I have tried donwloading the "Codename Gordon trick" aswell, it does not work.

Don't be silly, these people are more reputable than both you and I here. They have nothing to prove to anyone.

I read that you said you use normal steam (so I assume that’s steampowered.com ‘s client) however you mentioned that yours is configured differently...
Would you be willing to share as to how you configured it differently?

lol, i used the 1st ppatcher and it worked....... BUT after that, an error comes on saying "........ cannot be authenticated" and I try again . cannot already.. sheesh.
