Q: I've downloaded fresh server for linux, but it crashes with "Illegal instruction" message.
A: It's because your CPU does not support SSE2 instruction set. To solve this problem, download this downgrade pack and extract it to server root directory. (Just place the hlds_15Jun.tar.bz2 to server root dir and use tar -xf hlds_15Jun.tar.bz2 command to extract it)

Yes I have readed. And I have downgraded. It's not my problem.

And as you can see, I have 4617 engine:

Quote:
# debian:~/hlds# ./hlds_run -game cstrike +map de_dust2 +ip 86.XX.X.100
# Auto detecting CPU
# Using AMD Optimised binary.
# Auto-restarting the server on crash
#
# Console initialized.
# scandir failed:/root/hlds/./platform/SAVE
# Protocol version 48
# Exe version 1.1.2.6/Stdio (cstrike)
# Exe build: 15:57:57 Jun 15 2009 (4617)
# STEAM Auth Server
# couldn't exec language.cfg
# Server IP address 86.XX.X.100:27015
# scandir failed:/root/hlds/./platform/SAVE
# [S_API FAIL] SteamAPI_Init() failed; unable to update local steamclient. Continuing with current version anyway.
......

THE PROBLEM IS NO ONE CANT CONNECT MY SERVER.... Could someone help? :)
I love this topic :D

Well this week i got a new router and now i cant host my gmod server, i start my server but it starts with my LAN IP 10.0.0.1
i already port forwarded everything related to Steam, HL1, HL2, SCRDS, HLDS.
i allowed everything on my firewall, tryed using DMZ, and out of ideas.
if i put command " ip [currently used external (WAN) IP] " it gives me the engine error couldnt allocate any port to IP or something..

A: The simpliest and effective solution: set sv_minrate 70000 and sv_lan_rate 70000 in server's config and restart the server.

Is this some sort of fix or players are actually forced to play with those rates, does those settings override player rate settings and does such high rates increase bandwidth requirements for players and server ?
As far as i know max rate supported by hlds is 25k or 30k.

Any fix to solve master client problems without downgrading?

Thanks

Ok I just needed to open the ports (lol :D)
Now I have my last question:

If I run my server in "screen" mode, can I quit it? And how I can quit it then?
And what was the actual command for "screen"?

Hello.

Could someone tell me how I could do this:

My server should have 2 modes, a public mode and a clanwar mode,

How I could do that?

And in public mode, first 3 rounds with pistol (max money 1000), and after that normal gameplay :)

How I could do that? :)

What's the directory I have to install de downgrade? Do yo refer to /root/ or the directory where I tried to install cs?
Any way, the package doesn't works because, it works in case you have cs files, I don't have them...

This is just the amount of bandwith reserved for players.
Ingame if you type rate you can put a max of 30k inthere.
The minrate will not force u to use a rate like that.
Hope i helped :P
