Hey everyone !
Now i'm sure this has been answered and i tried finding my answer in the "steam content sharing" forum but it's so unorganized and outdated in some cases that i thought i would request help here.
all i want is simply play HL2 with a mod and as you know all mods are begin developed under tha latest version of HL2 and playing with a mod in a earlier version can resault in bugs and crashes, so my question is simple i want the latest version of HL 2 with EP1 and EP2 so i can play with the mod, any torrent or cfg files or a tutorial would be appreciated !

Get the GCFs (not CFGs, those are config files) from the SCS section, regardless of how "unorganized and outdated" it may be. Then use our updates database service to bring the files to their latest version.

Download Sasio's undead patch (cracked steam) and follow the instructions. <--- make sure to download the 22/09/2009 version!!
then go here
and click in "Click here to download or update this game with cracked Steam." <--- HL2 full, LATEST VERSION!!
downloading EP1 and EP2 is a little bit trickier especially if you're new.
EP1 and EP2
it says that you need those GCFs first in your steamapps folder BEFORE you download EP1 and EP2 witch cracked steam!!

Thank you guys ! nowi got the instructions and looks really doable only question i have is i have an original steam acount with games installed, would it conflict with each other ? or could i risk getting banned ?
And just another one, the mod i want to play is obsidian conflict, do you know if it or any modern mods will wok with this method ? and since i'm guessing all the files are going to be legit if i download the content from cracked steam i won't be able to run it . . would i need a crack or would i be better off just copying legit files over a cracked version so i could use it's exe ?

Don't ever use cracked Steam on your legit account.

Used a legit account on cracked Steam almost 2 years,no disable,not even VAC ban...anyway we are NOT responsable if smth bad happens...

Yes, I'm pretty sure they do keep an IP history where they could notice both accounts have the same address. There may also be other kinds of client-side persistence. I'd be very careful if I were in your shoes (which having a legit account, I kinda am).

I understand, so what would be my safest way ? i know how to update the game files, but i still need the HL2 installation to update stuff, so what's my best choise ? getting a 2008 installtion of the orange box ? and then update that using the stuff you have here ? http://rinru.us.to/app/220
because all other HL2 rip's are really not relaiable and have tons of bugs in most of them. any suggestions ? so where would a get a base installation from ?

just use cracked steam(Undead,GreenLuma or SmartSteam) --> you CAN DOWNLOAD THE ENTIRE GAME AND IT'S UPDATED
just use cracked steam and press on the install button!!!
in other words you download the game and you can always update it with cracked steam.(no need for CF-toolbox)
you can play the game with cracked steam or without it see how to create a standalone in the tutorial section.
