Why would the bother cracking a beta patch when the real patch is going to come out soon after? Just wait for the patch to be out of beta.

I ment why would the people who actually crack the game bother taking the time to crack the beta when they'll have to crack the non beta when it's released straight after.

I didn't think DA2 was that buggy. I admit I had to download the beta ATI drivers to fix a crash, and I've noticed a memory-leak after a few hours of play (could be beta drivers) but apart from that the game seems fine for me. Not being able to save is very strange, did you by any chance install the game to a different location than the default?

Edit: I should also add, I'm yet to discover an RPG game without semi-major bugs.
