Is there any possible way of playing this with a non-steam copy? Sure, I made searchs about this, not only in this GREAT forum, but on Google too and the infos are so few that I decided to create this topic. If its break forum's rules, feel free to delet it. I dowloaded a Half Life pack that have the three necessary games, but I'm confused. Can someone please help this noob? Thank you, and hugs. -- Edit -- Anyone? |

I'm guessing It's the HL2 Mod , right? here's the info from their site Hardware requirements: * DX9 capable graphics hardware with minimum 512 MB VRAM. (1 GB recommended) * 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended) Software requirements: * Fully installed Steam client. You can't start the mod without Steam running. * Fully installed and unlocked HL2 / EP1 / EP2. Make sure, you have started those games in the past. * Source SDK (SDK, Base, Base 2007) installed (you can get them in Steam | Tools). Quote: * Fully installed Steam client. You can't start the mod without Steam running. I'm not sure about that part that you NEED steam, if you know what I mean |

^^Altho it says that, it actually runs a non-steam launcher exe to start the mod, lol (Steam does NOT launch) But the installer seems to check for the GCFs, so it probably won't work with extracted versions.. (I think it might actually extract the game files from the GCFs to the mod folders, not sure tho, but seeing my CM folder size is 19.6 gigs, that might be the case) edit: 420th post! time to 420! |

Rename hl2.exe(or launchHL0.exe) to steam.exe, and run it |

or make a gcf-based standalone and then add the -game "game folder" (without the quotes) parameter I never tried it because i even cann't get near the minimum requirements ps: I know why you need to start it with steam. if it's the first time that you start half-life 2 it must install the minimum files and a lot of ppl don't know how to do this without steam. |

(and they tell u must have steam running, oh the irony..) didn't see a sight of steam once, i just played cm thru month ago. the thing here is that the op doesn't seemingly have the gcfs, as such he won't be able to create a standalone unless he figures out a way to extract the installer in an other way. i put it through uniextractor tho and no dice, so i doubt that will be too easy. op, i recommend you just download the gcfs, it's the easiest way. the games aren't that huge for nowadays standards anyway. serp202 wrote: Rename hl2.exe(or launchHL0.exe) to steam.exe, and run it
