I am no fan of Activision, but this is not Activision's fault or policy. The problem is Valve. This is Valve's greedy policy, and it doesn't matter who the publisher of the game is. Valve is a bunch of greedy fucks and uses Steam's DRM/restrictions to enforce regional restrictions on games to control game prices in various markets.

The only way to stop this shit is to stop feeding Valve and Steam your money. Even when you buy games on sale from Steam, Valve still profits from it. The only way to kill the beast or get it to change its ways is to starve it.

You know that Valve carries out what the publisher requests? Consequently it's the fault of the publisher.

one similarity among us is Russian keys which we've bought from the same web site.
Which store was that?

It would be the fault of the publisher if it were just one game. It's not. The keys for all of the Russian games were revoked not just for Black Ops. "Today all games that were activated with Russian keys are gone from our accounts. I guess they are tracking down Russian keys which are being used outside of Russia."

Valve does this for its own games too. Even back when the Orange Box was released, Valve banned the accounts of users who purchased the cheaper Thai and Russian versions of the game and ran them outside of Russia and Thailand.

Consequently, this IS Valve's fault.

No, I am right. You obviously are not familiar with Steam's policies and restrictions.

See https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art ... -QFZC-2141

Those regional restrictions don't just apply to a single game or third-party games. They even apply to Valve's own games. See http://www.gamefront.com/valve-responds ... tivations/ for an example.

Valve works with the developers to allow Steam to do region restrictions. Though, not allowing users to use a version from another region, is crap. If it's available in my region (where I reside) and where I bought the version from (at a cheaper price) then I should be allowed to buy and use it at that cheaper price.

Territory control
Open up new markets. Games can be set to authenticate only in specific regions, allowing you to go day-and-date worldwide without the worry of grey marketing of products intended for specific territories.

Yes, but it's something that Valve should not even offer. Steam certainly doesn't have to enforce region restrictions in its DRM so users can't play games outside of where they purchased them. The reason that Steam does is because Valve already wants and uses that functionality for its own games as I demonstrated above.

They don't have to include the option but it sure as hell gives every publisher a huge boner so they come running and publish via steam and in the end that's what the guys at valve want. But I don't think they are all over this like crazy deleting anything randomly not legal in their view ... I still believe it's more or less in the hand of the publisher if they want to impose the option.

For example, I'm from Germany and since we have some pretty lame anti violence regulations I'm forced to buy most of my games in different countries. So far I had no trouble with them. I even use a Thai version of ghost recon advanced warfighter without any trouble.

But then again I didn't know about the Thai orange box stuff you linked in your post. Gives me something to think about ;)

It's getting global : http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/s ... ?t=1803080
I thought this was only happening in my country but it seems we were just the first victims.
