I installed a new HD in my computer. installed Assasin Creed 2 on the new HD. I see all over the web that the save game data is in... H:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Assassin's Creed II\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\storage\YWxhbmNoYW54\4. I have the old HD hooked into my computer and the data in there is dated 04/02/2010 & 04/07/2010 (FYI: The last time I played it was 03/14/2011). I move those files over to my new HD anyway just to see if it would work. It doesnt.. Now when I put the old HD back into my computer and run the game it shows right where I left off in Assasin Creed 2. Where did the game save my latest progress? It has to be on the old HD somewhere because I can play it when its in my computer? |

You can use Process Monitor to check which files the game accesses when loading the saved game from your old hard drive. |

The standard location for the save games is C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\storage\(random letters/numbers)\4 You will most likely have 4 files in there, two *.save and two *.save.metadata You should just need to copy over the old saves from the old hard drive, which should have a Date Modified of the most recent playing of AC2, to the new hard drive and overwrite any files. If the saves don't seem to work, plug in your old hard drive and play AC2. Complete a side quest or something that will make the game save itself, then search your computer for files modified most recently. Hopefully your current save will come up. |

some more informations: the "storage" directory (where the ac2 savegames are) is usually created in the ubisoft game launcher install directory but it changes if you redirected the ubiorbitapi_r2.dll location. (skidrow uses a modded ubiorbitapi_r2.dll and you can overwrite the original one in the ubisoft game launcher directory or put it in the game dir (and edit the registry) |
