Hey,
I was getting that earlier error (about d: drive), however i fixed it by moving it to another partition. For example: What I did was initially, installed halflife to the C partition, and that error came up so I moved it from the C to my F partition. Stopped that error.

However, now I've got another problem. It's like that other guy said earlier, it crashes before it even loads the menu. This is team fortress classic, by the way. I've extracted Half-life.gcf, Half-life engine.gcf and teamfortressclassic.gcf twice (to make sure everything extracted). However, when I load up tfc it goes to the menu screen, but doesnt load up the menu at all (no Find Servers, Options etc buttons), and just closes the program with no warning. There's no error message either. I run tfc from a shortcut on the desktop which has the following parameters:

"F:\Half-life\hl.exe -steam -nomaster -game tfc -console"

Any Ideas?

Just extracted the platform.gcf to my F:\Half-life folder, but still the same problem... Happens with regular halflife as well, not just tfc.

shortcut for tfc should be:

"F:\Half-life\hl.exe" -steam -game tfc

Ok well I just did a complete fresh re-extract again. Created F:\Half-life, extracted Halflife.gcf, Halflifeengine.gcf, platform.gcf and tfc.gcf and applied that play on steam patch i got from your "Play 1.6 on all steam servers" thread. Still get the same error... I'm guessing its probably something wrong with my gcf files or something. My file sizes are:

Halflife.gcf = 395mb
Half-life engine.gcf = 8.39mb
Platform.gcf = 13.4mb
Team fortress classic.gcf = 112mb

Is that all correct? And also, perhaps i should add -applaunch ## or something on the tfc shortcut? Would that do anything? Thanks heaps for the help with this :)
