installers work extra-fine for me. no need in ppatcher ( exept updating GCF )

-once a week for siltent updates (not necessary, but it's nice if you can)
-especially when they announce an official update

2. use hCUPa's installers to install the necessary game files for your steam account

3. create shortcuts to the games. don't try launching them through steam

Well they never worked for me. What is wrong with just launching the game instead of downloading installers?

thats why you create shortcuts and NOT try to launch it from steam...

You don't get it. I mean that if you launch a game through steam, all the files and directories needed to launch the game using the emu are automatically created, so no need for installers.

what i think your talking about now is something along the lines of "why doesn't everyone just use the patcher?"
well, for starters:
1) the patcher is only good until steam is updated and someone releases a new ppatch config file or in a worse case, a whole newer version of the ppatcher it'self.
* however, the ppatcher is useful for updating gcf files -but in the worst case scenario, if you can't get a copy or noone releases a newer version, you can resort to the exploit.
2) most people would just rather use steamemu because its so dependable and easy to configure.

Fucking steam

you got that because you did one of the following:
- used an old version of the patcher
- used the new version but you didn't update steam to the latest version (run steam once then exit) before you applied the patch.

well, if you got that and now you can't run steam at all (without the ppatcher of course) and it says something about canno't delete origional steam.exe when it's trying to update... you have to:
1) uninstall steam
2) restart your computer (OR make sure no other program is running that uses the internet then... hit ctrl+alt+del and go under "processes" and end the second instance of svhost.exe -but be careful not to kill the first instance or you will get a message that your comp will restart in 1 min)
3) reinstall steam and let it update.
4) log into your account and check the "remember my password" then exit steam and make sure it's not still running in the tray.
5) run the latest version (v5) of the process patcher.
6) enjoy

Run the original steam without ppatcher. Let steam update itself (until all that it wants to). Close it.

Then run ppatcher. It should work. Make sure you download the ppatcher files from the first page of this thread.

It worked for me how YMB said, through running the game with ppatcher once... but... could you please tell us HOW TO SET THE INSTALLERS RIGHT, because obvious SOME people do not know...
P.S.: v2.33 installers worked without problems for me...

copy install file contents from the folders (CSS Install, etc) to your \program files\valve\ folder and run!

i get this message error steamprocesscall(createaccount)(0xab00003,0x17dfc04,0x17dfd0c) failed with error201 is in offline mode can not perform this action while offline) i am online right now want to update steam how can i change that? anybody plz man i want this one offline or online but i need to get true fuckin@#@#@g steam. Need to extract the gcf files true steam?
