| Post subject: | Steam-Down questions .... |
There's a few questions I have right now.. and I think there's a lot of other people with the same questions. I read about 20 pages of that steam-down thread. I saw a bunch of people talking about blocking/unblocking steam. What does this mean? Should I be doing something with it? This program should have come with some sort of documentation :\. Another thing is I'm seeing a bunch of talk about ppatcher.exe.. what is this for? I installed and ran steam-down.. and it looks as if HL2 is 19% done downloading. The "Updating Half-Life 2..." window is open right now, and it appears to still be downloading OK. It says like 190 minutes left. Does everything work online? Do I need any cd-cracks / patches / etc once its done downloading? Will I always have to use Steam-Down to play the games I've downloaded or can I eventually transfter the GCFs over to my normal steam folder and play it through regular steam? Will valve always think I've purchased HL2 once the download is completely finished? (meaning if I format, I can redownload the games I've downloaded without steam-down?) And the most important question.. once my download hits 100%, what exactly do I need to do to play HL2? I need someone to be specific about this.. its hard to compile 72 pages of conversation into a mental manual. (Which is why I made a new thread) Maybe once these questions are answered, it will help others with the noob problems, too. Thanks |

Maybe I am I just want to know if once the download is finished, I'm ready to play my game -- or if there's more I need to do.. Thanks for the reply =) edit: oh and btw, I took that cs addiction quiz and scored a 73% also =P . One part made me crack up. Where it says "do you ever say say radio commands in regular conversation" or whatever. My friend went to a paintball tournament and got shot and yelled out "YOU F'ING HACKER!" on accident lol. It was funny.. he was really embarassed. |

How to use Steam-Down: Connect -> Play games -> Click the game of your desire -> Let it "update" -> Restart PC for a fuller gaming experiene -> Connect to S-D again -> Click the game you just "updated" -> Play. That wasn't so hard, now was it? |

in response all the way to the top: you werent reading about steam-down, your were readfing about hellbosses old exploit... he renamed the topic though.. in response to you, it updates forever because when steam updates, it just puts back the old files so itll work again |
