Hi,
i have been trying a lot but cannot seem to make a dedicated server without steam auth. can anyone help?

the one posted for windows uses hldsupdatetool.exe which uses steam authentication...I dont want to use steam authetication

works for 1.5 only

if i use the same method and copy the cstrike folder from a CS 1.6 non steam installation it crashes

Now people with non steam can join the game but people with steam cannot.. In steam the server is shown as not responding

Tried those

I installed my server using hldsupdatetool from steam and ran it. People through steam cannot join because it says "invalid steam UserID ticket" and I cant forward my ports as I am on a LAN(not mine). I tried the nowon patch from cs.rin.ru but to no avail. I even tried copying cstrike folders from both cs.ns and cs.rin.ru versions of 1.6 but it didnt work.

I also tried using the won HLDS. I installed hlserver4111.exe and hlds4111e_beta.exe. Tried using all 'cstrike' folders from cs.ns cs.rin.ru and hldsupdatetool but everytime the server crashed on startup.

Is there no way I can setup a cs1.6 server on my LAN?

did u try using the dedicated server directly from steam games list? it is free

yeah but he wants to run it not from steam..
so try hlsw then?

HLSW is a program used to list servers and connect to them using that, he will probably have the same issues

and to note.....the dedicated server main files run off of files in the hl root folder, not ctrike folder :wink:

did u try the cz from my cz topic in the sticky? all the files r cracked..just add play on steam patch...
