We need your help!

For 17 years, this forum has served us as a platform for sharing games with each other, graciously hosted by the owner of RIN for all this time. Sadly, he can no longer afford our server.

To keep this forum alive, we need your help with covering the hosting expenses.

Donations for hosting expenses

After 17 years of sponsoring this forum's hosting, the RIN owner was no longer able to afford the kind of server a forum of this size requires. In May 2020, we moved to independent hosting, funded by community donations.

Any and all donations will go exclusively towards hosting expenses and we will make this fact as transparent as possible. This means that all cryptocurrency donations (except for Monero) will remain in the publicly viewable wallets (see section "How to donate" further below) until the funds are actually needed. Paysafecards are handled differently, see below for more information.
If there are any changes to our running costs, we will make a detailed "transparency report" about it and update this post. We aim for a reasonable trade-off between transparency, operational security and protecting every donor's privacy.

The costs

The cs.rin.ru domain will continue to be sponsored by the RIN owner. The server costs 1095 EUR per year, which happens to be exactly 3 EUR per day.

Status of funding

See the price chart and wallet balance links further down in this post to get an idea of our reserves relative to our costs. Monero wallet balances are private by design. Monero and paysafecard funds will always be used first.

As of February 2024:
  • Server paid for until May 2024
  • enough reserves to renew until May 2027
  • ~80 % of the funds needed to renew until May 2028

You can easily calculate an estimate yourself, by using the yearly server costs found above, the current crypto exchange rates and the balances of our wallets, as listed further below.

How to donate

To qualify for the Donors group, the value of the donation as received by us should be the equivalent of at least 5 EUR at the time of transaction. With cryptocurrencies, beware of transaction and exchange fees, particularly when using instant exchange services.
After your donation, if you'd like to be added, send us a transaction hash, the exact amount, a link to a blockchain explorer or similar via private message or by posting in this thread.

Cryptocurrencies, paysafecards (PSC) and cash by mail are the only official options that we can offer safely. Do not request other methods. You can find cryptocurrency wallet addresses for some common currencies and tokens below. We also accept other currencies upon request.

    Other cryptocurrencies
For other cryptocurrencies, please ask. If we cannot receive your currency, you can use one of the instant-exchange services listed under "Info on cryptocurrency" to convert it and enter one of our wallet addresses as recipient.

    Cryptocurrency direct deposits (experimental)
For large contributions, you can request a custom wallet address for direct deposit into our hosting account. This is less private than donating directly to us (unless you use Monero), but you have an additional guarantee that the funds go directly towards server costs.
The definition of "large contribution" has yet to be decided and will depend on general interest in this method.

    Paysafecards (PSC)
Paysafecards [[Please login to see this link.]] can be bought online and in local stores. They contain a code that you can send to a staff member via private message. There will be no public list of PSC donations.
PSCs have nontransparent, region-dependent security restrictions and will not always work for us, so we try to redeem them right away. If we are unable to make use of your code, we will let you know so that you can spend it elsewhere. We cannot accept codes that do not meet the following conditions:
    • minimum amount 10 EUR (or equivalent),
    • maximum amount 40 EUR (or equivalent),
    • must not require a myPaysafecard account to redeem,
    • balance must not be in USD or CHF.
This list is most likely not complete, but will be kept up-to-date according to our experience with redeeming codes.

Cash by Mail (EUR or USD)
You can send Euro bills directly via physical mail to our server provider. The mailbox is located in Romania, Eastern Europe. Contact a staff member to request the postal address.
To prevent abuse, the minimum amount is <yet to be determined> and if you request the address and then do not send anything or not the amount that was agreed upon, we may ban you.
It may take up to four weeks for funds to be credited in our account.Wrap the bills in some opaque material to conceal that there is cash in the envelope.
Note that writing a real return address on the envelope may impact your privacy. On the flipside, sending the money directly to the hosting company gives you an additional guarantee that the funds cannot be misused by us.

For contributions via cryptocurrency direct deposit, paysafecards or cash by mail, we can provide a receipt from the provider, if desired.

Info on cryptocurrency
Spoiler
The easiest cryptocurrency to buy is Bitcoin. The official Getting started with Bitcoin [[Please login to see this link.]] page walks you through the basics, including choosing a wallet software and finding a way to buy BTC that suits your preferences.

If you are just interested in donating here, we recommend Monero instead, where transactions are designed to be untraceable and fees are lower than with Bitcoin. Visit getmonero.org [[Please login to see this link.]] to get started. Ways to get Monero are listed on the Monero Project's official list of merchants & services [[Please login to see this link.]].

Some tips: Cryptocurrency blockchains, as well as most places where cryptocurreny and tokens can be purchased with traditional currency, will take transaction fees. Make sure to take this into account when deciding on how much you want to buy. Centralized cryptocurrency marketplaces require identity verification, which can take several days or weeks to complete and connects your identity to the funds. Alternatively, you can try finding a Bitcoin ATM near you or buy from private people directly. Some multi-wallets, like Exodus [[Please login to see this link.]] and Atomic Wallet [[Please login to see this link.]], also allow you to purchase cryptocurrency with credit/debit card or bank account directly from the app. Another alternative is to buy BTC via Cash App [[Please login to see this link.]]. Lastly, the most private, but not as easy to use methods, are decentralized exchanges (DEX), like UniSwap or bisq.

Frequently asked questions
Spoiler
This site is all about free games, do you really expect your users to give you money? You're just trying to make a profit!
We have no expectations, we know that most people who pirate video games might not have much money to spare. We don't either. We just don't see any other way to keep this place alive. Sharing is one thing, but we consider trying to profit from other people's works brazen and shameful. All we care about is preserving this unique site. If you don't trust us, don't donate.

Why don't you try to earn money from advertisements instead?
Even if there was a legitimate ad network that would be fine with warez content, would not resort to unethical or pornographic ads and would not overly track visitors (there isn't), ad revenue would be very unlikely to cover any significant part of the costs. The RIN owner placed ads for a while many years ago, but they were intrusive and didn't seem to generate any meaningful income. Also, we hate ads.

Do I get anything for donating?
First and foremost, you'll get the amazing feeling of knowing that you directly contributed to the continued existence of this forum, as well as our sincere thanks. Aside from that, verified donors can be added to a special Donors usergroup with rank "Donor <3" and possibly more perks in the future. You can choose not to be added to this group, if you do not wish to be associated with your donation. It goes without saying that the forum rules still apply to donors and they will be treated in the same way as normal users by forum staff.

Very few people own cryptocurrency, why is there no better or more accessible way to donate?
For safety reasons, we can only accept donations via means that allow the recipient to remain anonymous (and preferably, the sender at least pseudonymous) and that can be converted to cryptocurrency or directly sent to our hosting provider. We would be glad for any trusted volunteers to collect donations via other methods (PayPal, Steam Gift Cards etc.) and convert to cryptocurrencies for us. Please contact us if you are a well-known member and are able to do this.

How can I donate via PayPal/credit card/other payment method?
Find someone who owns cryptocurrency and who is willing to accept your payment method and then donate the cryptocurrency to us on your behalf. It might be worth considering to find ways to exchange Steam gift keys or other gift codes for cryptocurrency. Such peer-to peer exchanges are at your own risk, so make sure you trust this person.

I don't have any money, is there another way to help?
Yes! Help others on the forum, stick to the forum rules and support our moderators by reporting rule violations and making high quality posts. Anything that lowers our daily workload is greatly appreciated.

Why don't you add an opt-in webmining script to the forum and/or provide a mining pool I can join?
In our opinion and from experiences of other site operators, the returns from mining nowadays don't warrant the effort required to implement such a system in a secure way. Direct donations have been very successful so far and mining would not improve on this in any significant way. If you'd like to mine for us, feel free to set up your own solutions for that.

Can I donate on behalf of other forum members and will they get the donor rank?
Yes. By default, your name will not be disclosed to the member you donated for, so it is up to you whether you want to stay anonymous or not.

Is crypto really the only way? I mean I get why but if other options were available I feel it would be much easier to raise the money.

Crypto being the only way really limits the amount of folks who will donate, should be at the very least paypal if not credit card. RIP cs.rin.ru ... all the great VR games and assetto mods, get them while you can. Or open up donations from other channels please

Cryptocurrency is a no go. But if someone can offer an alternative, as mentioned in the OP, I would like an update. I personally do not know anyone, who can convert to crypto. But, I would prefer, that there were people specifically working with the forum (verified by the admins or something), so people won't go donating to random strangers without any guarantees.

If you really love this forum so much, why do you not invest one hour to learn about crypto, buy it and just donate instead of stating "RIP cs.rin.ru"? We'll see soon enough if the community actually is what we thought it to be over all these years or not.

Man it gets old hearing from all the people who still find crypto too inconvenient. I've been using it for 11 or 12 years, and it can be annoying if you're not well-organized, but it's how you support causes like this one. Now, put up with a bit of inconvenience, disabuse yourself of bullshit security concerns the more shameless dissidents use to justify their laziness, and donate if you care.

Just a suggestion.
We could use USDT or USDC (a stable crypto currency). USDT is available on various network such Ethereum, Tron, Omni (bitcoin).

People who still relies on fiat seem very strange to me. I'm using crypto for all my warez needs for YEARS. Not a single cent from my banks ever touched my hoster, my seedbox, my VPN. All is paid in crypto. It's just as complex as PayPal in 2020. Once you setup it, it's sooooooo easy to make payments and accept donations (in my case). Hope we will gather needed amount, will chip my part later today.

Those are used usually on exchanges only, it's not that easy to pay with them. Unlike BTC.
