There was a thread about this before, but it got lost.

In-game development tools

At release, Team Fortress 2's cache files contained leaked code for several in-game development tools:

Source Filmmaker
The tool used to create Valve's promotional trailers. Users can record themselves as many times as they want and overlap the results, creating the illusion of there being many actors in the world at once. A "Publish to Steam" button is available from the main menu. Supports all of the engine's Cinematic effects.

The leaked code has since been both removed from the cache and disabled from running should the user supply backed-up versions of the various libraries.

Now somebody has already uploaded the extracted Source2007binaries_v0_files.

This is where the tools are located:
bin\tools\

foundry.dll
ifm.dll
pet.dll
sampletool.dll
vcdblock.dll
vmt.dll

Now I don't know how to launch the tool...
If you know how to do, or if you have any suggestions please post it!

i think we must wait. valve said that some "new" tools will be released for orange box version of source sdk

a user on rin.ru uploaded the extracted source2007binaries v0 files, where the tools are included.
I could reupp it, but the problem is I don't know how to start the tools. They are just .dll-files in the /bin/tools directory...

the tools can no longer be run as the engine.dll has been patched to disable the loading of the tools. also, they don't work in the particle benchmark.

there was a link on hl2world to the tools but hl2world seems to be down at the moment.

Very cool. It would be nice to get it to work.

EDIT: Will this work with other source games like CSS, or does it only work for TF2?

its only for FIRST public tf2 BETA

I know you need to run the game with the -tools parameter, but other than that I'm not sure.

this seems to be quiet limited in terms of custom content. I can't load any custom maps. All the textures end giving me an error (invalid vtf header.) plus, if you try and load it with a more recent version of TF2, it fixes nothing. Is there any way around all of this?

How do we load the film maker?!? I tried -tools, it has 3 tools, but how do I use the film maker?!?
