A new trailer for Quake Champions, what looks like a series reboot, debuted at Bethesda’s E3 conference. While it doesn't show any gameplay, It shows multiple characters with "different attributes and unique abilities" taking on Strogg.

Reassuringly, Tim Willits, Studio Director at id Software, talked up the technical focus of Quake Champions, stating that it'll support a 120Hz refresh rate with unlocked framerates, which was a nice segue into some brief esports chatter—it's going to be a focus from the get-go.

From the brief glimpse, it seems like Quake is hewing close to its fast-paced, acrobatic origins, but by mentioning characters with unique attributes and abilities, I can't help but think of Overwatch's wildly different characters, and how it makes team play vital to success. Part of what makes Quake one of the best arena shooters is the even-footing it places every player on—teamwork is secondary to individual skill.

We'll hold our judgement and extra hot takes until id shows more of Quake Champions at, well, QuakeCon in August.

It's a joke how CoD-ish all games are becoming now... all about perks and shit.

Play Reflex (which got out of Early Access today) or track Unreal Tournaments progress.

Those games are following the true rules of an arena-shooter.

Bethesdas games are getting ridiculous. Calling Doom and QC a reboot of both series, but destroying the gameplay itself with unnecessary casual elements...

So what, they have one master server? That's uber dumb.
What's more funny is region selection, the only option is "Worldwide"
It's not in my taste living in EU and playing with dudes from US/JP etc. with +150-200ping -.-

And I bet this game have that lovely matchmaking instead of proper server browser :laughing: :8=)

- Matchmaking for their cloud dedicated servers
- If there are bots they're again only server sided
- Online-only, no local games
- No LAN
- Denuvo
- Bethesda Launcher

It's Bethesda.... like Ubisoft.

Look at Dishonored 2, DOOM, etc...

Then you won't wonder anymore.

All publishers fuck up their games more and more by NOT supporting and polishing it, but by putting more shitty anti-tamper, anti-consumer, online-only, account-dependant shit into their games.
